I don’t know about anyone else but I’m always reading the newspapers, mainly daily mail and express. In the time of Covid I was constantly reading and watching the news on tv, no wonder I became extremely anxious and thought I was going to lose all my nearest and dearest. My DS did tell me not to continue reading these papers, full of negativity, to which I did take notice of him until recently, and now hitting headlines is WW3 could be very near! It is likely that all men from ages 18-41 or could be 60 yrs of age would be likely to be called up or conscripted to go to war if necessary as the British over the years have reduced their numbers of the Army, Navy and royal air force etc. My anxiety levels have again risen so high just by reading this, my 2 sons are 31 and 34, the thought of them going to war and to possibly lose them. I guess it’s time to step away from reading the news for a while.

If a soldier refused to fight he would be imprisoned (better than being shot as in the past). There would still be wars - and the end would be swift in this nuclear age. Your thinking is centuries out of date WonderfulLife - except in some Middle Eastern countries where I’m sure you wouldn’t want to live.

What no one seems to take on board is that wars are fought because there are people around willing to fight.

All the Hamas fighters are willing fighters and are not bothered about dying,

So talk about every soldier refusing to fight is living in cloud cuckoo land.

We all need to ask ourselves, if someone attacked us, physically would we fight back or passively let the person attacking us continue the job until they had finished.

In the recent dreadful case in Nottingham, when that young girl rushed back to protect and, sorry, fight off the man who was attacking her friend, she was - fighting.
