There was a wealthy man on what used to be the God slot on Sunday talking about the proposal put forward by Brian Cox amongst others (250 billionaires) at Davos to tax them. I forget the name of the entrepreneur - he gives 10% of his income to charity every year and has also given a large proportion of his wealth to charity. Furthermore he sold his company to his employees for 25% of its worth. He lives quite happily with what he has left.
So my question is what do they do with it all? My thoughts are that those like Mone and her husband feel the need to flaunt their wealth. He has just announced that he is going to buy a new yacht but you can only be on one yacht at any given moment.
I could easily spend a few millions - I would give a chunk away to charities and family. I would like an apartment in central London so that I could stay for a few weeks whenever there is a music festival or a dance company that I would like to see. First class travel so that I could travel to different parts of the world to see an exhibition. A cleaner and a gardener.
I'm not into expensive jewellery or cars but could splash out on some art or pottery. There's not much more that I would like.
