Special experience for an 80th birthday(male)

If he's the "go with the flow" sort of person would he prefer some sort of family event or something just for him?

A weekend or a few days in a big house with family does give him the opportunity of conversations with all the family and you could incorporate a family meal.

Obviously it all depends on the budget as these big houses can be very expensive.

Ps But I'm sure it would be lovely 🙂

I shall watch this thread as DH has a significant birthday this year.

A very good chef to cook a wonderful meal for your family with the staff to serve and clean up after you.

That's the problemnotspaghetti he's hard to please, well not really. I mean he just goes with flow. He doesn't want a big fuss but would still like to celebrate with the family

For my DH’s 80th I booked an Airbnb on the coast for our DS and DiL, DD and her DH, 2 DGC and dog. He loved it.

OP, take a look on a website called brightcare.co.uk (sorry, can't link for some reason). There's quite an interesting range of experiences which are all in Scotland and are all suitable for those less mobile.

Maybe a flight on the sea plane from Loch Lomond? We did this for my DH's 70th and he loved it. 45 minute flight, absolutely stunning views. You could have a nice meal before or after at Cameron House or Duck Bay.

My husband has limited mobility so I dropped him off at the wee jetty and I parked nearby at Cameron House. The crew were very helpful and there was a ramp to access the seaplane. My husband's 88 year old aunt, who uses a wheelchair, also did this flight on her birthday.

A car driver service to take him on a day drink tour to the places that make scotch? There are some lovely tasting places.

Fingal is the 5 star floating hotel at Leith. Or why not try an 'Orient Express' afternoon tea at the Queen Charlotte rooms? It's a complete simulation of a trip through Austria apparently. Original fixtures and fittings and visual tricks so you feel you're really travelling.

I think there is a Pullman train in Scotland that has a service including lunch.

If you are close to London the Orient Express has a lovely route and lunch, it’s wheelchair accessible.

Afternoon tea at the Ritz is a nice treat.

There is a wonderful small hotel in Morston, Norfolk with a Michelin starred chef and accessible rooms.

Really depends on your budget, I hope your DH has a wonderful birthday whatever you decide.

Will he want something so luxurious ! They all sound very expensive gifts
