Storm Isha……..are you ready?

Wind and heavy rain howling round outside our flats. Sounds awful. Am so happy to be in and cosy. It's going to get worse overnight too. 😨

The wind has been picking up for much of the afternoon, and it's just started raining here.

This morning I did my best calligraphy one some (of the many) birthday party invitations for a friend; shoved a load of washing out; took three of my granddaughters swimming; booked theatre tickets; and went out for Sunday lunch. Not bad for someone who does not do early rising.

This afternoon I've faffed about getting nothing done, and very nice it is too!

It’s got gradually greyer as the afternoon has gone on here. This morning was quite bright and hardly blowing at all (although it had been during the night). It’s getting more blustery, too, with rain in the breeze.
I moved the green dustbin to round the back where it’s much more sheltered yesterday, and the plants in pots are mostly up against the house or sheltered by the hedge. Torches are at the ready, phone is charged, car is in the garage. There’s nothing else I can do, really, just hope it doesn’t become as wild as they say it will.

Heavy rain in east central Scotland which already has caused local floods

It looks bleak out there but not too windy at the moment. I'm on the Fylde Coast facing the Irish Sea and in a second floor (top) flat so every time we get a storm I hope the roof stays put.

High winds on the Fylde coast and an amber alert. Now that I've got the dog out for a wee poop-walk I can relax, draw the curtains and just listen to Isha rage.

At this rate we're going to have to repeat the alphabet this year!

We are in the amber alert area and it is pouring now and very windy. Also we are rural and surrounded by trees. The noise is building. Roll on Tuesday.

My daughter’s travelling back from a scout camp in Yorkshire today so I’ll be glad to hear that she’s home safe. We were on the M1 round there yesterday and it was bad enough then. There were warning signs about todays wind on all the gantries.

I have just taken the dog for his pm walk here in Cornwall. No rain yet and quite blustery. Nothing apocalyptic yet.

About 10 degrees warmer than yesterday here in East Anglia. A bit of a breeze but I can feel the change in air pressure giving me a bit of a headache.
DGS3's football match was cancelled because of the forecast but it could've gone ahead as the weather was much better than last weekend this morning.

We’re on just a yellow warning here at the moment, but it’s very gusty and rainy. We’ve been out for a quick yomp round for some fresh air, but only lasted 30 minutes and let ourselves be blown back home for a cuppa.

Greyer here now but only breezy.

Windy here but no snow or rain in Surrey it might go round us. We did move the bunnies into the upper floor of the garage last night because of fear of strong wind which we have had in the past. We’ve moved them there when the temp has gone too low as well. I’ll pit up with anything except snow, I still work 2 days a week and I hate driving in it

It’s blowing a hoolie here (SE) and no sign of a single bird at the feeders - not even the pigeons -, so they must be hunkered down in the trees and bushes, poor things!

Amber alert here for wind later today with heavy rain accompanying it. Just waiting to see how it develops. Wind direction is straight on to our bedroom window, a noisy night to come I suspect.

Strong wind and torrential rain here, but no amber alert from BBC weather. Waterproof trousers and big yellow coat for walking our dog. She was unmoved by the weather and raced across the field and into the wood regardless of the mud!

It’s mild-ish and still here in the north east of Scotland and the 3-4inches of snow have all gone. But we have everything we need, as long as the power stays on …

Think you must be lower down than us, DamaskRose as our snow was deeper than that and is not all away yet, but we now have ice on some cleared pavements - so much more difficult than snow to walk on! It’s clouded over since earlier snd the wind hasn’t got up yet. Hoping to get the washing a bit drier before I have to take it in.

Ok, we might not escape as the warning has been extended as karmalady said!
I’ll go and check the garden.

I've just gone out to the garden and put away as much as I could so it doesn't blow about. I've got a big pot of lentil soup in the slow cooker which will cook away all day and chicken marinated which I'll cook before it hits. I've done the shopping so there's plenty of food. Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as feared.

I cleaned the storm drain in the communal space

The builders are working on a plot only yards sw from me and have safety barriers up, they are floppy and flimsy so I have been out and put strong bungees on every one of them. The winds could well be strong enough to lift roofs so I have also ensured I have photos of the building site, just in case any of their stuff causes damage to my house

The wind direction is basically from sw and I would be in the line of fire and have done what I can

Here in Torbay, I was nearly blown over in a gust en route to church this morning! Keep warm and safe, everyone!

It’s pretty windy already in mid Wales, I can hear it blowing down the chimney, and I’ve just rescued some large empty plant pots which had blown around in the garden from where they were stored. The sun is shining at the moment though.
