I would recommend a chimney sweep too. When my daughter had hers swept she found detritus from a bird's nest .

Have you had the chimney swept? The ‘draw’ of the fire seems unbalanced.

I think if smoke is entering where you work, it could be classed as a health and safety issue. It certainly isn't good for anyone with respiratory problems.

The link is just an open fire with what looks like squares of mdf or similar on it.
