I still think most of them are social WD40 and, because of that, don't mind them.

But Baggs, my children were, all three, love children. My legal husband and I loved each other. Our children were created by that love. So I do find the term 'love child' offensive.

Oh yes - Hubby or My Hubby.

Another favourite pet hate used by elderly women is "She had it all taken away'" usually followed by a knowing look.

My grandmother always said that in hushed tones.
I was sitting next to an old lady in the waiting room at the vets a long time ago. She told me that her dog had had a tumour, then, in very hushed tones, the vet had to take everything away.

'Iconic' - used for everything, it seems.

I know right. When I hear adults 50+ use it it makes me cringe!

'Fighting cancer' is horrible. It gives the impression that if some poor soul dies of cancer they have not tried hard enough to stay alive. Should be banned.

'I just can't wait'.........for Christmas, to see your new baby, to eat vegan sausages etc etc. This is something children might say, not adults. Grow up for goodness sake.

Such an exceedingly over-used word - frequently applied to pretty trivial grievances ie: getting a parking ticket, missing a bus, an apprentice hairdresser making a bit of a dog's dinner of your hair etc,etc,etc.
