I have been even more ill than normal so have been buying absolutely everything online and the emails clogging up my inbox are extremely annoying.
1) Thank you for your order
2) Your order has been received at our warehouse
3) Your order is being packed
4) Your order has been despatched
5) Your order has been received by Royal Mail/our courier
6) Your order is out for delivery
It's been this for each single item, followed of course by the ubiquitous request for a review as mentioned on another thread.
What is even more annoying is if Royal Mail is to deliver it. Last week I also got an email from RM saying we have your order. Then the next day (Wed) they emailed to say they would be delivering on that day (although I did notice at the bottom in teeny tiny print they stated that "this is an aim, not a guarantee.")
Well, it got to Saturday and the parcel had still not been delivered by RM, so it had jolly well better come today! (Mon) This is supposed to be by Royal Mail Tracked.
Sometimes I've had 8 or 9 emails for just one item. It's ridiculous.
Rant over . Have a nice day

Emails re Online Orders clogging up Inbox
(25 Posts)At least you know that the order has been received and it’s on its way.
I delete everything except the one telling me the order has been received (with the order No on it) and actioned and the one telling me it’s been dispatched.
Just delete the others.
At least they are keeping you informed about the progress of your order.

I do the same. It's better that than wondering where your order is and when it is coming. I just delete the review requests.
I agree with everyone who says it's nice to know that your order is being dealt with and how far it has got. The continuous e-mails do build up if you don't keep a continuous eye on them and delete the interim ones. You don't really even have to keep the confirmation of order because, if you have registered yourself as a customer with the company, all the info is on the website.
Hope you feel better soon and can get out to the shops!
I do nearly all my shopping online too and agree with the OP. Of course most can be deleted but Amazon emails, to name one, don’t say explicitly what the order is, just give the order no, wh is even more annoying. Also the forest of them obscures other messages. But only once a year and I’m pretty well through now.
A small price to pay for the convenience of online shopping. I have the same proliferation of emails but they’re easily dealt with. It’s surely nothing to complain about.
If my orders disappeared into a black hole with no further information I’d be worried. I file the order acknowledgment as the receipt and delete the rest.
I run a worldwide online support group so I wake up to about 80 emails each morning which have come in overnight, and it's time-consuming to have to wade through online shopping duplicates to get to the important notifications from the support group with the possibility of missing one or two. That's all I'm saying......
For people who maybe only get a couple of dozen emails a day, obviously the online shopping emails are perfectly manageable.
I'm grateful when I get txts and emails updating me on deliveries as I don't have the possibility of the delivery people leaving things outside my house. I can make sure i'm here
I run an international antiques business and international shipping can take its time for many reasons. I try not to deluge my customers with emails but I send the following:
#1 invoice with instructions how to pay if they have not paid up front. This will also give them an idea of shipping times.
#2 dispatch notification with tracking.
I dont contact them again unless they need further help or information. Some buyers panic if the package seems to have got "stuck" because they are not familiar with the customs process.
My in boxes are filled with emails but I have different emails for buying and selling.
I have two email accounts with different providers. One I keep for shopping and stuff like utilities bills, the other is for personal stuff.
Same as SueDonim
In fact I have several email accounts, for various things.
A "business" one, a "family" one, a one for "random" things. Even this site has a different email address again.
It says that gmail are going to close accounts that have been usused for two years, this friday. Mine are not usused.
I do probably have some usused accounts somewhere, but not gmail ones.
Perhaps you can make a rule in your client to separate into folders on receipt.
If the many emails are a problem, have certain senders' emails sent to a specific folder.
You can still delete the ones that become irrelevant.
Most email clients have a means whereby you can block unwanted emails or divert them into the spam folder. I do this with people and organizations I dont want to hear from, Then I can truthfully say that "I didnt see your message".
However I do like to keep track of international and courier packages so I know which day to expect them. Most of the decent couriers will now give you an approximate time slot to work around.
You can make separate folders to move yr emails into then you don't have to see them unless you want to
Consider the alternative. Not knowing when your order is going to be delivered and trying to contact the retailer and/or courier to find out where it is. Count your blessings.
I have a folder labelled ‘shopping’ and all related emails get moved into it. I have a clear out regularly and only keep the original order confirmation for each item once it has arrived. Having all the others helps if the item does not arrive.

Yes, it is really annoying when couriers' emails don't make is clear whom the order is from so you have no idea what is coming.
Often if you order a few things from Amazon at the same time there is only one of them shown in the follow-up emails so you can't be sure how many things are actually on their way.
The same is true of plant nurseries who send part orders so it isn't easy to keep track of exactly what is still outstanding.
Do as someone already suggested: keep the e-mail confirming your order and delete the rest.
Or even better open an e-mail account you only use for online shopping, so all these notifications aren't obscuring more important mail in you ordinary e-mail inbox.
Exactly grandtanteJE65, just going to say that myself. A different email address for all your purchases will keep these annoying messages away from your worldwide support group. You will have to unsubscribe from all your retailers on your main account and only use your secondary account for shopping.
Hope this is some help to you.
Perhaps using different emails like I do for personal shopping and your support group would help OP. I have just typed what I now see has come unjust before Definitely different emails.
I like the ones that tell you the drivers name and give you an exact to the minute time the delivery will be made.
A different angle, but could you buy more in bulk from one supplier rather than so many separate suppliers?
Is it possible to buy less overall anyway?
Admittedly I can get out but I generally only buy from three shops on a regular basis.
