Good Morning Monday 2nd October 2023

Good morning from a dry,so far,dull day.

The church was beautifully decorated for the Harvest Festival yesterday. We have a very small regular congregation,usually no more than 6 or 7 and just 1 service in the church once a month.

Our priest has a part time post and 7 parishes to minister with a few retired priests to assist when they are well and available.

I love this service. The church is at the bottom of our lane surrounded by fields presently all ploughed and 1 with rape planted and growing well.

For the first time I think,as well as seeds,flowers,fruit and bread to be offered at the altar,we had a wire coop with 2 white leghorn hens in it. They added greatly to the atmosphere of the service,once or twice cackling as though they were about to lay.

Off to meet a friend for coffee in our nearest little town and then a quiet afternoon reading my new book.

Yesterday was good met with DB and SiL for lunch good to catch up and have a wander around my birth place although not to far away its many years since I've been into the town, there was a music and food festival on so it was buzzing.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Cleaning lady this morning and then U3A meet up this afternoon to view a local church. We had a lovely day yesterday visiting DS, DIL and GD1 for a birthday lunch for DGD a treat all round.
Goodness gM I have a feeling that was the best harvest supper they have ever had but certainly costs need discussing.

Good morning all from the East Yorkshire countryside. It’s a decent start to the day with a brightish sky and dry. We had a real deluge yesterday afternoon.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon with the family for my birthday meal. The gc were so entertaining as usual. GS had been to his football match in the morning turning up very muddy to get showered in Grandmas shower. He arrived clutching his Man of the match trophy. He was also thrilled to have scored one in a penalty shoot out although they did lose. DIL was impressed by the restaurant we went to despite the awful weather. It overlooks a large lake and is very picturesque.

Today I need to do my food order. This morning en route home I need to pick up a click and collect order in Beverley then this afternoon I have a hair appointment.

Good morning all from a beautiful autumn morning on the Angus coast. Goodness that was a warm day yesterday - as warm as any we had during the summer. And me dressed for winter because the day before had been do chilly!

Well done with all your hard work grandmattie. I too am wondering how they all managed before you arrived - the other parishioners must think all their christmases have come at once!
Marydoll be good while DH is out 😉, and I'm glad Dolly's homework was appreciated by her teacher.
Nothing planned here today - just the usual little housework bits and bobs, some tai chi paperwork and, if this lovely morning presages another beautiful day, some time spent in my little nook by the pond. How lucky I am.

Good morning it’s raining here at the moment, but as I’m not going anywhere it doesn’t really matter.
I have to unpack the packing I did for the abandoned holiday, but not yet……
Steroids are working but I didn’t get any sleep last night, thank goodness for Kindle, it’s normal for me whilst on the tablets but it’s still a nuisance, once my heavy legs and arms sort themselves out it’ll be fine. Plenty of time to catch up on my sleep.
I hope our friends made the flight ok, I sent all the boarding passes and Hotel info to them last week ‘just in case’.

Shopping delivery later for MrOops to sort out, maybe he’ll unpack the suitcases too.
Hope all poorly grans start to feel better soon, thoughts are with those who are looking after sick family.

Good morning Mick and all from a bright Port Erin in the Isle of Man.
Here with DS and DD to scatter DHs ashes in Port St Mary nearby where he spent all his happy childhood holidays and I later joined him for the regular visit. So a bittersweet trip. I was up at 3 this morning for the flight so going to have a nap before a steam train trip which I have loved ever since my first visits.
It’s DS birthday today and my late DH on Wednesday when we will take the ashes.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your trip Mick, so good for you to have something nice after a nasty patch and thoughts to all with worries 🇮🇲

GrandMattie, what a treasure you are to your new Church. I remember the hot harvest lunches that our Church used to provide, plus a sweet of apple pie etc, all done by willing volunteers, and a charge/ suggested donation of £5 per person. Probably £1 for children. Now the number of volunteers are depleted, but they still offer a ploughman's type lunch, with a similar donation. I was also thinking about the harvest festivals when I was a child. The offerings were mostly fruit and veg, marrows being of varying sizes, from large to huge. Plus the wonderful loaf in the shape of a wheat sheaf.
I had a day yesterday where I felt like I was wading through treacle, and a disturbed night, so this morning am like a sloth.
Hoping a shower will wake me up.
Marydoll, hope you soon feel better , also sending thoughts to Oops.
Mr Corner, mustn't overdo things! Also thinking of Urms, Kalu, and all the ones who are poorly.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny-ish Carlisle.
I'm glad you had an enjoyable day yesterday Mick.

Another poor night's sleep for me, I seem to be alternating between unusually good ones and these. Last night it was bouts of coughing and aching joints stopping me getting back to sleep. My foreign germs are proving hard to get rid of.

I shall start the usual round of Monday housework and laundry but pace it I suppose. As to the afternoon, I'll see how I feel, probably a new book...

I missed the news of your abandoned holiday Oops, I hope you are on the mend. I abandoned one myself on the day of departure back in the spring. It's not something you do lightly, is it? Perhaps you can get away sometime soon?

Good morning from a dry, mild NE.
Weather was wonderful yesterday, sat in the garden for a while and went for a walk with SIL later.
We had beef bourguignon for dinner with a very nice bottle of red wine we discovered in the wine cellar, a Chateau Corton Grancey which was 24 years old.
Today will be a quiet day, read my book and catch up with some TV.

Good morning all from a much brighter day in Glasgow, hopefully a repeat of yesterday’s eventually, sunny pleasant day.

I enjoyed doing some topiary yesterday and trimming some ivy, done this year with a hedge trimmer rather than shears is much less work and helps to focus my mind on other things.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day along with hope for a better day for those with worries and troubles whatever they may be. 🌻

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire where it is currently 12°C. There was a definite chill in the air this morning. I’m glad you enjoyed your trip out yesterday Mick.

The last 3 days have passed in somewhat of a fog following the ‘flu vaccine. No idea what we will be doing today. I’m recovered from the post-jab effects so will start getting back into my routine. No appointments in the diary this week so far other than collecting a prescription.

MrB is on a keep fit routine at the moment. He is starting to feel age creeping up on him and also wants to lose weight. He goes for an hour’s walk every afternoon, a little too far and fast for me! He is also cooking healthy meals, which is great. I need to lose weight too and my stomach feels much better on a lighter diet.

Hope you have a better day Marydoll, I shall look for the Rome videos on YouTube when MrB is out and enjoy my own virtual walk.

Morning all from a village near Toulouse. I am currently sitting in the garden watching younger son having a swim. Annoyingly I am a little under the weather. The antibiotics I’m on have caused me to suffer an upset tummy. All night! At least I was ok during the three days of wedding festivities. We are flying back later today. It has been such a good event. The bride and groom are off to Paris tomorrow for a few days before flying back to Australia. Have a good day everyone especially those of you suffering heartache.

Just back from the dentist with a temp repair to avoid any infection. My recent filling apparently had put pressure on the adjacent tooth and it has crumbled. Looks like a crown is required, but not until I'm feeling better.
I really don't like going to the dentist, but everyone was so kind!

Poor DH had just returned from golf, when I hustled him right back out the door. I knew I couldn't drive.
What would I do without him. 🥰

late to the party today. Glad you enjoyed the show, mick.

It’s turned very dull and grey after a reasonably bright morning.

I went to my regular coffee morning, collected a prescription on the way and then set to and planted some daffs in the front garden borders for some spring cheer when I got back. I’ve got some tulip bulbs to plant out too, but will leave those until next month. It’s still very mild for the time of year.
