Cliff Richard is 82........!

I’ve never really been a fan. Always found him to be a bit creepy !

My first crush, when I was twelve. Had all his singles, picture on my bedroom wall.....then the Beatles came along and changed the world!

He looks terrible in his photos now, imo. If you want to look young the worst thing you can do is try to look young, by dying hair etc.

I wasn't an avid fan but we saw him a couple of times in the 80s and bought a couple of albums. The concerts were great - rock n roll, people up dancing. Good fun. Some great songs too - Carrie, Miss You Nights, Wired for Sound etc. People love to knock Cliff I'm not sure why. I think Radio 1 refused to play his songs. Why? They play all sorts of dross on there.

I think ‘Miss You Nights’ is one of my favourite songs.

He is the same age as me (I am a few months younger) and every time I look at him I feel more invigorated. Keep going Cliff.

Tom Jones, is of a similar age. Like Cliff, he doesn’t have great charisma, but, I think he’s a better singer.

I've never liked any of his records apart from the one he made with Phil Everly, he likes to think he was one of the original Rock n Roll singers but he never was. He's a very vain man judging by the cheesy poses on his calendars. Never featured on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager. Did feel sorry for him when his house was raided with TV cameras there.

Well you're right. Very few people in the know but there's more to CR than meets the eye. Just Google cliff Richard kitty secret. And when you do ask yourself why he hasn't sued for thus defamation!

I remember being 15 in 1960, staying with a friend who lived at the wrong end of the Kings Road. We decided to go and see Cliff in Expresso Bongo (his best film imo, black and white, with Laurence Harvey, brilliant). Amazingly by present-day standards, it was an X film, so we tarted ourselves up as best we knew how and tottered along in high heels to the Essoldo where we were let in no problem.
Next day we went and listened to the EP in a record shop (you could then) and bought one copy to share.
This was of course before the Beatles. Say what you like, it was the start of the 60s, the best time to be young.

Not talking about your brother but if someone puts themselves about and in your face day after day I guess people feel they do know them well enough to say oh I love him or her or can’t stand him or her surely

I never quite understand how people can ‘hate’ someone they don’t know.
My brother is a t.v. Presenter. People have been known to go up to him and actually say ‘oh you’re * off the the telly aren’t you?”
‘Yes’ he replies’
Then ‘yeah we can’t stand you. We always change channels when you come on!”
This is often followed up with something like , “anyway, have a nice day” or similar. Very odd.

Years ago, as a teenager, I had a boyfriend whose older sister worked as a dancer at the London Palladium. Cliff was appearing there at the time. The sister saw him in a shop doorway passionately kissing a male member of the cast. So I've always thought he was gay or bisexual. Love his earlier songs but don't think his voice is strong enough now.

I do like him and used to love the Young Ones. He always looked young, like Paul McCartney. It’s good that a British singer was so popular and I don’t think he particularly sought the limelight anymore than any other performer. He’d be a bit strange if he didn’t. I remember many years ago he went out with Sue Barker, the tennis player.

Sue Barker has made it clear that she is sick to death of Cliff harping on about their brief 'relationship'.

Yes, well no suprise there, he has always been 10 years older than I am!

My dad was 11 days younger than Cliff but died in 2018. Each October we would joke about who looked younger - we always thought Cliff but recognised that he hadn’t had three children and a mortgage! For many years, l could not admit to liking any of his songs because of this and the fact that my mother was a fan of his when she was a teenager. I actually prefer his earlier songs to his later ones as they are so optimistic.

So he is still alive is he. Good for him. Bet his funeral will be like Valentino’s and Liberace’s. Dominated by crying fans. And why not?
Hope he has a good few years left though.

I used to like him in the 60s, but I just think he looks so awkward these days. He moves oddly when he sings and his hair doesn't llok right. Can't quite put my finger on what is so wrong with him.
