To me there is nothing weird about cutlery having to be lined up. This was how I was taught to set a table - you had to be able to stand at the end of a table and see ever piece of culterly, crockery, glass etc in perfectly straight lines. Good restaurants still teach their staff this.
And my great-aunt who taught me to hang out washing would have made me take it down again and hang it up properly if all the articles of the same kind were not hung beside each other, socks paired up, all woollens in the shade and everything that was to be taken down sligthly damp to facilitate ironing hung on the same line. In her day clothes pegs were wooden, but had she lived to see plastic pegs of different colours I am certain she would have paired them up too!
I too can't bear pictures hanging squint, probably because another dear lady of my childhood insisted that a photo of anyone who had died that hung squint meant they were trying to tell you something.
My own weird habits? I reserve a saucepan for boiling milk in, use one washing up bowl for the washing up and another for cleaning vegetables and carry on long conversations with the cats,
