Greetings, Kitcheners. Today I have done a towel wash and hung it out. This involved swearing at clegs that wanted to attack me. At least the northeasterly wind meant the midges stayed away.
I have made a red velvet cake with actual beetroot and washed-up the megamess.
I have done a cryptic crossword, swabbed the bathroom decks (so to speak), looked at MrB's photos from Switzerland where he is travelling with a couple of long-standing uni mates, felt sad about the cancelling of the Hogwarts Express (because people can't be trusted, apparently, not to open train doors when it is in motion – give me strength!) and I have congratulated BTDD's partner on completing his mountain marathon to raise funds for Willow Wood Hospice in Greater Manchester. He has raised more than five times his target. BTDD may die there.
And so I have wept. Again. And fervently, I pray, Give Me Strength.

run, in aid of Cancer research and SiL back to work this morning. He’ll hopefully know in the next few days if he has work in August or whether he’ll return to us for a week or so using the flights pre-booked in the doldrums of last winter when he couldn’t get any work at all and flights for £20 -£30 stopped him getting even more depressed. He’s such a lovely and hard working man but since the pandemic and being furloughed has no confidence in his abilities at all.
