A comment on another thread about dunking a Nice biscuit got me thinking. I (to my shame) have always dunked. I did remember not to when my D’s took me to the Ritz for a landmark birthday but in everyday life, give me a cuppa and give me a biscuit and I’m anybody’s. But which biscuit is best for dunking? Does it depend on the beverage? Tea biscuits are clearly streets ahead for tea, but ginger nuts run them close. Hobnobs too, although they can be fragile, therefore risky. Or have you raised your hands in horror at this breach of etiquette?
Oh yes. there's many a time I've had to fish out an over dunked biscuit with a spoon. My favourite dunking biscuits are rich tea and chocolate digestives.
I grew up at county fairs where local politicians (usually) or some note-worthy person would sit on a collapsible seat in a wire cage, over a water filled trough used for livestock drinking.
Anyone could buy balls to throw at a target, that if you hit the bullseye the politician would go flying in the drink.
Oh, what fun. A little taunting, a little laughter, lots of dunking. Looking for politicians who could use a dose of humility. USA Gundy
Choccy diggers (chocolate digestives) are great for dunking....I'd probably dunking all sorts at least once and my DD & grandchildren have been known to dunk their biscuits in my tea!
