Odd things you wish you could buy.

I cut up old rubber gloves into thick "elastic" bands once they have been thoroughly disinfected. You can use up an odd glove that way. Large bands from the cuff, small ones from the fingers.
Just seems a bit less wasteful and the larger ones in particular seem to be very useful.

Me and my mum loved Roocroft’s Nut Milk Cubes when I was younger. I’ve tried to find them since but no one has ever heard of them! They were a kind of nougat and sold loose in jars in proper sweet shops. Anyone heard of them?

I think you may be out of luck. Roocrofts of Bolton ceased production in the 90's

Sorry is I am getting the wrong end of the stick but this has made me think of the things from the past that I loved that are no longer available. Anne french cleanser. Aqua manda talc. Pretty peach talc and hand cream. Nylon quilted bed jackets (in our family you always got one when you had a new baby). Brushed nylon nighties like the ones you used to get from Brentford nylons.

Wow, suninthewest brushed nylon nighties! Really? I can remember them in the 60s and 70s. I just think of static shocks and flashes when undressing in the dark.
I did love the quilted dressing gowns though and remember getting one aged about 12, my mum and sister also. They were more colourful and somehow smarter and more stylish. Mum “experimented” with nylon fitted sheets. I think they were easy to wash and dry.
I don’t remember the smell of Aqua Manda but was familiar with the product on Boots shelves (lived in Boots then) yes Anne French cleanser, and Avon Pretty Peach 🍑 had a whole set one Christmas and loved it.

I wonder why upright vacuum cleaners don’t have a cable rewind.

I used to like sandalwood perfume but it is quite hard to find now. There are a few versions but not like the old stuff. I think it is now a protected species

I wish I could buy single shoes in different sizes. I was once accidentally sold a 'pair' of Clark's boots, one a size 5 and the other 5 1/2. They were a perfect fit as I have one foot larger than the other, also with a bunion!

I bought a fleecy bed jacket in a charity shop in the autumn. It was as new and has been invaluable this winter when I have wanted to read in bed while having my early morning cup of tea.

I’m probably just nostalgic but I used to love the patterned Axminster carpets, my mum & grandmas used to have, they always looked good and lasted for years. The light coloured plain carpets we have now show every mark and can be so high maintenance. I sometimes wish the patterned ones would come back in fashion.

You can buy very small amounts of olives at our delis. All the supermarkets have them. Plain, stuffed, black , green ,whatever. You have to queue to be served but not usually very long. I think they also have capers .

Anne French cleansing milk and mostly musk perfume from the body shop. Barker & Dobson blackcurrant and liquorice sweets and brandysnap also banana and toffee lollies think they were called lord toffingham or something , my list goes on

Oooh! Yes, Aqua Manda. I loved it and also Meadow Song. The bees used to chase me at the bus stop. Sadly not the boys, Hey! Ho!

Boots had a skin range in the 70s that came in little brown herbalist bottles with a lip at the top and a cork. I remember buying the almond face lotion and also their toner. Can anyone remember what it was called, please? Also, pink sugar mice with string tales and Old England spangles.
