An article on the radio this morning discussed the possibility of inventing a pill whereby you could live forever. I certainly wouldn’t want to, even if it guaranteed fitness and health.
What I think would be good is if I could be fit and healthy and then programme when I want to depart this earth.. ie when I feel you've had enough. Something like a legal and normal Dignitas. A painless death that would not use up resources (to keep me alive at all costs, no matter how much I'm suffering), that could help younger people to have better lives and health.
I believe in reincarnation so I'm sure I'll be back at some point... but the way things are going, I'm not sure I would want that!!
I feel sorry for my granddaughter who will be living with the effects of global warming and the regressive attitudes and systems that are coming into force...and possibly a world where everyone connects through a screen of one kind or another as opposed to face to face!
Agreed. As our bodies age, it surely becomes more natural to accept that we should not live forever. We need to move on to make way for future generations.
As my mum was lowered into her grave, there was my first grandchild ( now 21 ) in her buggy- it seemed natural, the cycle of life.
My husband has recently come to terms that his time on earth is limited. Just today he said he is content to live a quiet life for the rest of his days, until God decides it is his time to go.
No, not the way life in this world is rapidly spiralling downwards, losing all sense of integrity, honesty, respect, community, on and on. Meanwhile I will seize every day with what energy I can muster to enjoy my family and friends whilst I am able.
Norah, thank you, that was beautifully put, but not with my body the way it is now. Hellogirl1, I often feel like you, but the a other day dawns, and even so sometimes it is so good.
Ha, ha. I went to a fortune teller on my 40th birthday. He looked very pleased to impart the good news that I would live until I was 88. I was absolutely horrified and twenty plus years on, I still am. Please let him be wrong.
On a bad day I get upset looking in the mirror now (80), so probably not a good idea to keep going for another 20 years or so. I think someone wrote that song about me She's So Vain!
The song isn't about you Dotty dots. Just keep going as you are I know a few ladies well into their 90's you would never guess their age they are so active. We all look in the mirror and usually see our mother looking back and wonder where time has gone. Just like my DH he wonders where his hair is going....to stop going. It is often guessed that the song was about Warren Beaty the actor.

No why should I be special unless everyone you knew and your family did you would be on your own? It's like the song Turn? by the "Birds" for everything there is a time and a cycle.
