Prosecco

I always thought Prosecco was the Italian equivalent of champagne, as is Cava in Spain and a German one called Sekt.
I like it all, in small doses.

Not a lover of it. Prefer a cuppa these days.

Its far too fizzy gives me stomach ache champagne not much better. Wine is a much better option.

Not too keen on any fizz. I prefer a Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or (whisper it) Chardonnay. A previous poster mentioned a brandy and babycham, DH tells me that was known as a ‘knicker dropper’ in his day!

Nope it doesn’t do anything for me either, nor does champagne. It’s the fizz I don’t like so give me a nice glass of rose wine an d I’m happy.

Can’t stand the stuff. Usually cheap and nasty. Tastes like a weak solution of boiled sweets with a drop of alcohol and splash of soda water for good measure

No, you're not alone. But then I don't enjoy any wine, whether it's fizzy, red, white or pink. Half a glass and I get a hangover so gave it up years ago.

It's not for me makes me full and gives me a headache after just one glass. Prefer wine any day of the week. Going to partners nephew's 21st family do tomorrow his mum loves Prosseco so i will take my own bottle of wine.

Have champagne in the cupboard where it will probably stay. It’s always so bitter. Prosecco with Aperol makes it acceptable. Cava is slightly better. Prefer a good Sauvignon blanc.

Tree71. I'm with you. You can't beat a nice cuppa. I rarely drink alcohol, and have never tasted Prosecco.

Don't dislike it but given a choice then an Alcace.

It's a faddy, fancy thing. I too would like a decent pint of well kept flavoursome beer. I'm extremely fussy about what I pour down my throat, and this pretty named Prosecco fashion has is a bit of a sheep-following, "let's put it on a birthday card" feel.
I run a mile from the "on trend, must have, don't bother thinking for yourself" collective.
I expect some flack for this but you did ask ?.

But I always ask to add orange juice to it makes it much more acceptable Give it !!!

The best prosecco I have ever tasted was in a bellini in the Veneto I had just read" Miss Garnets Angels". Today anything fizzy is taken with a shot of Gaviscon.

I am in Spain at the moment and love to share a bottle of Cava with DH to start our evening off!

I'm so used to the various 'sparkling' wines eg prosecco or cava that I'm always taken aback at the difference when I have real champagne. Doesn't happen often but when it does !! ??

Yammy I read Miss Garnett's Angel some years ago and loved it!

To be honest I much prefer a nice Asti Spumante to Prosecco, but the best sparkling Italian wine is Franciacorta which comes from a small area near Bergamo. It is made by the same method as champagne and is a very nice wine - also hard to find in the UK and more expensive than prosecco.
