But neither do I like ‘curvaceous’ (probably the best of a bad bunch); ‘cuddly’ (bleugh); ‘curvalicious’ (give me strength); or the word de joure ‘thick’ ()
Can you think of any acceptable, non-cringe words for not being slender? Because I can’t
A word that has crossed my mind recently of a portly person is "deep", as in as deep from front to back as s/he is wide. Purely descriptive and not out loud.
When would you need to describe anyone as fat? I was with a tall thin friend recently and she began to look at tunics. The Seasalt type. I was surprised that she bought the size 20. She found it the most comfortable and a decent length. I envy her confidence. Having been brought up by a mother who quoted the Duchess of Windsor "you can never be too thin or too rich" I guess I am hardwired to dislike fatness. I wish I didn't. I don't want to be skinny either but I am always wishing I was a size smaller.
I'm surprised that someone who is tall and thin would buy a size 20 - surely it would have been far too big, baggy and out of proportion.
"just say what size in clothes you are since you are talking clothes." - that'll be a complete no. If you've over a size 16, for instance, you better bet that people will be very judgemental! Look at Grammaretto's comment, for instance - 'hardwired to dislike fatness'. I reckon there are a hell of a lot of people who feel that way.

You would think I had jolly good childbearing hips but an X-ray done after an emergency C section showed everything is not always as it looks!
Snap! My pelvic girdle was explained to a group of students as if I wasn't there. After Mrs... C section and ex-ray we have found that her pelvis is like a rugby ball instead of the usual soccer ball.
I am in the middle of my Swedish death Clean and am at the moment, culling my work jackets ( CHanel style). I have only been retired six years, but have been hanging onto them, just in case..... I have been trying them on and asking DH, what he thinks. "Charity shop, they make you look very BUSTY." ?
Out shopping the other week I saw a friend I hadn’t seen for sometime. She said “ You look well” I took this to mean I’d put on weight. She always was a bit bitchy ?
Fanny How does 'well endowed' sound? Or even, 'rather well endowed'.
Where I live if you said a woman was well endowed you would mean they had large breasts and it would be thought of in the same way as saying what a pair of Knockers....sleazy. They usually say"By she's a fine big lass", whatever the age, for women of a certain girth and build. It does sound a bit as if they are at the cattle auction as they would say the same about a cow or a pig as long as it was female. You can take it whichever way you want.
