Do you have covid now? Is that why you are upset? If you were looking forward to being involved then I can see why you would be upset. Look on it as you are taking care of your health. You will have a new grandchild to love when you get better.

Btw is a PE a previous engagement? What can be so important that you miss your child’s graduation?

Grannyflower there will be other days when you can be together soon.This Covid business has disrupted so many lives and there is not much we can do about it. Don’t be upset, just look forward to seeing that new life when you can. She is a lucky daughter to have you caring like this.

Life is unpredictable. The main thing is the family know you love and care for them. You will all be together soon. Better to be healthy to meet your new grandchild.

I went to help out at my daughter's when 3rd baby due. The day I arrived, GD tested positive for Covid, so I was a close contact. I got it 2 days later. I just stayed at their house as planned. Daughter had baby a few days later, so I was able to mind the other 2. Despite having Covid, I wasn't that sick, still able to function and the rest of the family (apart from GD) had it at Christmas, so I wasn't a risk to them.

Daughter had planned a home birth, but due to having had Covid a month previously, she wasn't allowed as there's still uncertainty about risks. But it was all very straightforward and they came home a few hours later.

Yes I tested positive yesterday. Thus will be our first little boy and I so wanted to be there. I know I will see him soon. Thank you for making me feel better

I can understand why you feel sad, but it’s really quite small in the overall scheme of things.

Think about all the years ahead, when your grandchildren will make so many memories with you. What happens at the birth of this one, is inconsequential to him/ her, and your existing granddaughter will be excited about her new sibling.

Thank you all so much for being there right now. I tested positive for Covid yesterday so husband has gone to look after granddaughter while daughter has hospital check up and possibly keep her in.

I retired 3 years ago to look after my granddaughter when daughter went back to work so she’s been a big part of my life. Especially during Covid as both parents work for NHS and daughter was in scrubs.

I had a Pulmonary Embolism so missed graduation

My mum was ill a lot and died young due to breast cancer. I’ve been the same to my kids and had BC and then uterine cancer so just feeling sorry for myself. I don’t normally share any of this with anyone so it means a lot to have such kind words from you all. Thank you so very much.

Gransnetters are wonderfully supportive so I’m glad you’ve found comfort here, Grannyflower. No doubt when the new baby is born your DD will FaceTime with you so you’ll see your DGS virtually, at least. It’s a happy time and after five days from testing positive, I believe you’re allowed to see people. ?

Sorry I didn’t know what a PE was. Sounds like you have really been through the mill. Hope you recover quickly.?
