Took me 5 today. I've never done it in one or two. I really don't understand the posts that speak of failure to do it in less than the 6 allowed. You do realise that thousands (if not more) have totally not managed in the allowed goes? It smacks of superiority to bewail doing these puzzles in 5 or 6 goes. Not at all encouraging of those who are 'failing' on a regular basis.

Oh dear, this was such a fun thread till today. If someone’s disappointed with their own score, they should surely be able to say so without worrying about hurting somebody else’s feelings.

This isn’t a support thread.

So, I got it in 3 today and am very happy with that!

When someone feels the need to say 6 for me hangs head in shame then it’s lost it’s fun value to that person let’s just rejoice in the fact that we got it in the allotted 6 and remember getting a 6 means you ve beaten the game anything more is a bonus

And surely on a games thread of all things we can say how we feel about _our own score_ without people being judgemental about it!

I have just come on here today and am dismayed to see posters falling out on a Games thread (though it originates in ‘Chat’.)

Please let’s allow this thread to flow as a fun one .

I am maintaining my score of 4. Apparently there's lots on the internet to help, ie lists of 5 letter words, an analysis of what letters come up most frequently etc tbh I like the challenge and using my brain but if anyone wants to improve their score then I guess they could always go down that route, or of course, if you play it twice, once on a laptop and again on your phone, it's dead easy to manipulate your scores! OH and I are a teeny bit competitive with each other but in a very jokey healthy way!

I too was enjoying this thread. What a pity it has been spoiled by a few negative comments and the perception is that people are being made to feel bad, if they don't solve the puzzle.

I am not ashamed if I don't get it in five, just frustrated. It makes me want to have another go.

PS, I have had two unsuccessful goes today and I am now going away to have a think! (or look up a crossword puzzle solver ?)

Interesting ways to do it foxie48 but then I’d never be able to celebrate the amazement of a lucky ‘one’ or ‘two’.

5 for me today, not so good, personally. Foxie I like to try and get it myself. However after all 6 tries, I might THEN resort to lists, rather than just give up.

I got it in 3 and 5 turns, I’m dyslexic so I’m very pleased! A friend suggested I use ‘audio’ as the first word, and I’ve found that a helpful hint.

4 today. Pleased with that. I eliminated 4 vowels early on so that actually helped.

I didn't get it today

I'll just sit in the corner with the dunce's cap on.

Dgs3 got it in 3 but claims to have never heard the word in real life.
