I’m loving this thread but as my new bungalow is a bit of a do-er upper, I’m not showing a pic of my tiny hallway until the carpets have been fitted a week on Tuesday. ?

Now girls what to drink? The fridge is full. No Grammaretto we don’t have a cellar. It’s an apartment. Yes I appreciate what you’re saying. I’m sure reds do settle better down there if you have one. I’m not a bit posh but sit your self down and I’ll put the kettle on. What would you like to drink. I have real English tea and lots of herbal ones especially Christmas flavours, being an English person typically French people think I am short of a brew. Sorry no alcohol in the home.

I was musing over why some days go well for no apparent reason and others go badly.
Today has been expensive. I bought my DD a handwoven silk scarf for her birthday only to read that the payment for my veg box hasn't gone through for the past 7 weeks. Ouch.

A small dry white LauraNorder? I’ve got half a bottle of Viognier in the fridge from dinner this afternoon with my stepfather. Although he had a pint in the bar downstairs he’s one for a wee dram when he comes up here to eat so there’s some left. You’re welcome! What’s that ... a straw you say? As I sit here reading about our lovely, comfortable homes and imagine each other residing therein - I think how lucky we are that we live in the computer age. Honestly I've been WFH for nearly 2 years now - all the kids have left home and started their own families - Mr Dot works outwith the home and most days I don't see or speak to a soul. I visit GN constantly throughout the day - seldom posting but just reading your lovely posts and it really does help me to feel less isolated.

MIL is staying over tonight - it's her birthday tomorrow - she will be 88 and is the last surviving parent (while she is with us I can kid myself that I am not old - because I'm NOT the oldest in the family lol)

She has no clue about computers - lives alone and has been widowed for nearly 40 years. How it would enrich her life to be able to reach out to other grans (and great grans) and have lovely invitations and chats like this.

Right O! Hopefully you’ll all have patience as I’m not sure how much the ‘hostess with the mostest’ I’d make. Grandmadinosaur I’ve definitely got sherry. I’ve just poured a Croft’s Original. Will that do? It’s ages since we had that in. I just sent Himself into the larder earlier (Sainsbury’s) for a bottle. Goodness, Grandmadinosaur I was waiting for you to say ‘that’s fine’! Now look, it’s so full it’s about to drip onto the coffee table. No matter, I’ll fetch a mug. Friends are more important than feelings, as we know.

More or less 360 degree view of my hall. Peculiar design because the house is L-shaped…
The wreath is my one concession to decorations, but will be taken down when we visit DD and family for Christmas.

Please come in, we’re in our snug at the back of the house about to watch a film after a hearty chicken casseroles.

At my front door you would step on a Christmas doormat to ring the bell, there is a penguin holding a basket of red cyclamen and white heather. A Christmas wreath hangs on the front door.
Once the door is opened the warmth would rush out and envelop you, and my feline friend and I would usher you in and offer you coffee laced with Baileys and a chair by the fire.
