Do you mind if a thread de-rails after it has been running for a while and extends into other areas? I would have thought this was a natural progression of any discussion and sometimes the original subject returns with new light cast on it. It certainly seems in my opinion an odd reason for deleting any thread.

Thank you Chewbacca. Is there room for a little one in the dorm? I'll bring a midnight feast (well, I say 'little one' . . .)
I had a Laithwaites delivery today, may I join in?
trisher, if you seriously think that calling yourself a transwidow when you have lost your husband (widow) because he has transitioned (trans) is the same as believing you have a penis when your eyes can tell you you don't (a massive leap of faith), there is nothing I can say.
Although maybe no more alcohol. Have not hav.
Ooh I like the sound of a gin club. Hav you got alcohol or food chewbacca. Thems the rules.
Budge up JaneJudge and Galaxy.
I've been out all day and returned to see that Doodledog is still patiently trying explain, to the hard of critical thinkers, exactly what is at stake for women and their rights. Doodledog you've never lost your temper, despite much quite deliberate and obvious provocation, whataboutery and examples of male rape that, apart from having bugger all to do with the subject, has never once been backed up by a single example or statistic to prove the claims. You've resolutely tried to explain, in words of as few syllables as is possible, as to what is at stake for women if this tide of bullshit is allowed to gain any more momentum. There has been a wealth of evidence to show how women are being silenced, marginalised and diminished. There has been nothing from the nay sayers, who, apart from being unable to wrap their tiny minds around why natal women are angry at being reduced to no more than their body parts, also deny them the right to call themselves whatever they wish. It's difficult to decide if it's misogyny that's driving them or a lack of critical thinking. Could it be both?

Prof. Robert Winston was spot on, on Question Time, when he said "no-one can change sex". I think he knows what he is talking about.

I have it that April Ashley was the first Transgender.
I'm sure there are plenty of completely potty people who hate women or are trying to take something away from them.
I just genuinely don't believe that's the intention of anyone here.
We will always be women, mothers, wives, doctors, engineers, singers, tap dancers or whatever it is we want to describe ourselves as and however we define ourselves to the world. If those words are banned from general use I will help burn the whole place down.
Until then fellow humans

I don't think anyone minds anyone saying anything but people are concerned about changes to law and changes to language that affects born female minority groups
There is a point at which being inclusive becomes narrow mindedI mind people calling themselves transwomen and asking for it to be taken seriously
I think the point about "golf widow" is it is always used ironically. No one expects to be taken seriously about it. It's also two seperate words. Transwidow uses the trans prefix..
Sorry fast finger syndrome it should be transwidows asking to be taken seriously.
Logically speaking a transwidow shoud be a transwomen whose husband has died.

I agree JaneJudge perhaps some people need to determine what inclusive actually means.
'Not excluding any of the parties or groups involved in something'.
Exactly so transwidows can believe they are widows and be called such
Transwomen can say they have vaginas/cervixes.
Transmen can claim they have a penis.
After all if you feel like it you are it.

One of the first transexuals to tell their story in the UK was writer Jan Morris who, as James Morris, had been married to Elizabeth, fathered five children, been in the army and became known as the man who reported the conquest of Everest in 1953.
After changing sex, which involved various medical and surgical procedures he became Jan.
Elizabeth and Jan continued to live together although they had divorced, but were able to remarry as a same sex couple when that became legal.

Jan Morris was a remarkable women.
In that case everyone being equal you won't mind transwomen saying they are women will you? Anything else would be discrimination .
Golf widows aren’t strictly widows!

And I wasnt really expecting an answer on those points I was pointing out that in these discussions everyone feels under attack, unless like me you have developed a very thick skin and couldnt give a monkeys
<gets into bed with galaxy>
I said one thing lol
I didn't snowball it into something else
If I discovered after 41 years of marriage that my husband was without my knowledge identifying as and presenting himself, in my absence as a woman, therefore resulting in the end of our marriage, I would identify as a transwidow and would uphold my right to do so.
