RESPECT evaluation method.

I saw today in the Daily Mail ( OK just shoot me now !!) that a team in Canada have developed an evaluation system which can help determine if older folk will need nursing home care in the near future. It also predicts life expectancy.
Needless to say I couldn’t resist clicking on the link and filling it in.
To find I’m doomed Captain Mainwaring - I’ve a life expectancy of five years !
I’m stuffing the diet now - think I’ll go for a bottle of Merlot and three packets of cheese and onion crisps for breakfast instead of the Alpen !

That’s what insurance and pension companies have been doing for many years, they mostly got it wrong because we are all living much longer than they expected.

When I had breast cancer my GP “kindly” told me I could expect two or three good years in which to enjoy life.
The consultant much kinder said vaguely that I probably wouldn’t reach80!!
This was nearly 22 years ago and I will be 84 next Monday.

I was told 18 years ago by an insurance company that they were cancelling my life insurance because I’d be dead within 2 years. Obviously they got that wrong!

Some years ago Df had a pensioner colleague, who had been retired earlywith a full pension on medical grounds at 40.

He was attending her 100th birthday party.
