I’ve just rang the dentist to see if their accepting patients yet as I’ve lost my crown this morning, she’s given me an appointment for the 4th of Dec. Apparently this is classed as an emergency appointment so I’ve had to pay £ 22.50 This is the NHS. I don’t remember ever having to pay before, I could understand more if I was going today.

NHS and private dentists all charge.
The amount you have paid is the NHS emergency fee (pain relief or temp fillings etc) and is also the usual basic check up fee. You then pay extra for anything that needs more work.

I had to pay £40 for an emergency filling with my NHS dentist.
