DAY OUT.

It has to be Rye. At any time of the year. Un poco turistico as Lucia would say, but only because there's so much to admire. Obviously Rye harbour included in a visit to enjoy the wide wide sea and sky.

To our favourite quiet beach on the Galloway coast,
then stop for fish &chips on the way home!

Saltburn beach, walk along the pier, fish and chips for lunch...... one day soon....sigh......

I would love a day out at the seaside,one of the Linclonshire resorts,or perhaps Whitby,fish and chips and a walk on the seafront,nice sea air,lovely.

Would saddle up the camels and go trekking across the open sand. Can think of nowhere else I would rather be. x

My day out would be a full tour of Cheshire. When friend and I took our coach trips we'd either stop or change coaches at Sandbach to continue our trips but on travelling through Cheshire there were some beautiful areas where we'd promised ourselves we'd visit/stay but never got around to it. I do so love the countryside.

I'd then visit one or two charity shops in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow( if they have them ) Maybe D and I will visit sometime, it's not a million miles away.

There aren't many other places that I haven't seen in this country. Portmeirion I loved and I told D to take the children there later on if it's permissible. I bought a teapot from the crockery shop there or nearby.

Ahh happy memories for you HillyN and hopefully you can go back in the not-too-distant future and make more lovely memories. We had many holidays at Weymouth Bay when our daughters were young and they fondly remember the sand sculptures on the beach. ?⛺️

I've always wanted to go to Portmeirion but never managed it. Too late now. And too far from Devon for a day out.
So, I would simply drive to my old home town, Torquay, and stroll along the sea-front, throw stones in the sea from the beach, buy fish and chips, and generally behave like a tourist even though I lived there for 50 years. I miss the sea.

Anywhere. Seaside preferably.

This country has so many beautiful places to visit. When the weather is warm and sunny there really is nowhere better. So for me anywhere with a beach would be a dream, just to feel the sun on my face and the sand between my toes. Bliss.

I would go to the Yorkshire Dales and see the beautiful villages and hills, stopping at Grassington and Kettlewell for a break.

An empty beach...? I don’t need to be near people but I do need to be by the sea. I live 10 mins drive away but haven’t gone there during lockdown.

We live on the South Coast and often get the ferry over to the Isle of wight for the day or weekend as we have a couple of restaurants over there we love and its a faf to get back in time for the last ferry home, we were planning to do this before lockdown so right now I guess I will have to make do with a trip into the garden followed by a few hours visiting conservatory for some sewing therapy and on the way home stopping off in the breakfast room for a coffee!

We like to drive down to Worthing, park on the seafront, walk all along to the pier, sit and have an ice cream cornet, watch the fishermen, stroll back further along the front, have a lovely lunch in a place called Crab Shack that we discovered, then walk all the way back doing the same things. A lovely old fashioned inexpensive day out. Another favourite place would be Arundel. Lots to see and do there with lovely restaurants for lunch, antique shops, walks etc.

IT would be Clovelly for me. I just love all the cottages tumbling down the hill, though I couldn't walk back up these days and would have to take the Land Rover, after sitting on the little harbour beach and listening to the gulls.
Would be just as happy with the beach at Tenby.

If catching a flight to the USA is "allowed", then that would be my day out! Otherwise, a visit to Acorn Bank (National Trust) in Cumbria. Just to walk their in lovely garden, herb garden, and woodland, with the sound of the babbling beck, would be heavenly. Plus their cafe, shop, and talking with people....

I would go back to Penryn bay. My sister and i spent all our summer holidays there as children. The house belonged to the lady my mum was evacuated to and who she kept in touch with all her life. It is a very happy memory in a not so happy childhood.

We are desperate to get to beautiful Loch Lomond. Just a 30 minute drive away but right now, out of reach.
We had planned to spend most of this summer sailing there for the first time. Let's hope restrictions are lifted soon.

Love Portmerion, stayed in one of the cottages near the hotel. We stayed in June it was busy but after the daytrippers depart the place is yours. A really magical place.

Would like to follow in the footsteps of Raynor and Moth and walk the Salt Path (maybe not all in one day though!)

Two of my grandchildren live in Porthmadog which is just along the coast from there but I’ve never visited Portmeirion . Maybe I’ll go one day

Considering I now live, and have done for the past twenty five years, facing the wild and windy Atlantic ocean in North Cornwall then it has to be the Norfolk Broads where I once spent the most relaxing and peaceful holiday I could have ever imagined.

Over the sea to Skye. Or at least, over the bridge these days.
I've been in love with the Scottish Islands since first visiting on holiday with my family when I was a little girl.

Malvern Hills, as it is only an hours drive away. We used to go to the Theatre there, and an overnight stay, and walk on the Hills the next day.

Portmeirion is a great day out, really interesting, but I quite like Anglesey Abbey myself.
