Whopping price tag on a saucepan!

I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on a pan, have good saucepans, all bought at TKM, great bargains to be had if you have the time to browse ?

One of my secret passions is watching Come Dine with Me, although it is not so good now, but I remember one very full of himself young man who boasted that his saucepans had cost £2,000.
He and his husband also thought nothing of spending £10.000 on a holiday.
If you’ve got it, flaunt it.
My pans are from Sainsbury’s.

I’ve been looking as we’re changing our aga to a range cooker with an induction hob.
The pans we have are incredibly heavy, but pricing up to replace what we have now, would be over £1000!

I think I’ll do a bit more looking.

Talking of heavy, I’ve just been clearing out/cleaning some kitchen cupboards (a rare event here!) and there’s a Le Creuset casserole, quite a big one, that belonged to my lovely MiL. TBH I haven’t used it in maybe 20 years - it’s SO heavy even when empty, and I have other casseroles I’ve also had for many years, which are fine.

I will feel a bit bad about taking it to the charity shop, but I could do with the space, so it’s got to go.

I really don’t ‘get’ Le Creuset. I know it looks nice, but the extreme heaviness plus very hefty price tags are quite enough to put me off.

I got ride of a complete set of Le Creuset years ago - nothing wrong with it, just got so tired of having to heave the pans from stove to worktop. I should've had arms like Madonna's with the workout those pans gave me! They do look nice (the pans, not my arms!) but they are so impractical!

I agree, mine are Aga, I can hardly lift them empty!

Re Le Creuset, a relative with a huge holiday home in France bought an absolutely massive LC casserole in a local kitchen shop sale. I’ve never seen such a monster before or since.

However the one time I really wanted it - cooking for 18 and hunted high and low - it turned out he’d taken the monster back home to Singapore.
God knows how many kg of excess baggage that was!

I've had the Le Creuset saucepan set in the original orange and now in cream. I always seem to burn the base. I also have the casserole dishes in 4 sizes but the big ones are far too heavy for me to transfer from the oven onto the worktop. I'm guessing well over £1000 spent there.

How wasteful to make a pan out of Titanium. It’s what aircraft engines are made from and a very scarce resource. Whoever manufactured a pan from it is bonkers!
