... and planning to be financially independent.
?

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-20 21:44:27

Apparently Archie was with the nanny and Jessica Mulroney, Meghan's bestie. No big deal.

Other than the carbon footprint of course. grin

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 21:48:29

I read he was with Doria and the nanny. Who knows? It wasn't for long anyway.

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 21:51:01

BUT - when I just googled "who was Archie left with", Jessica Mulroney came up.

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 21:52:03

Aunty Jess. That's nice. smile

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 21:52:56

Google's well on the ball!

Callistemon Fri 10-Jan-20 22:06:37

wink

Why do Labour representatives (Clive Lewis and a woman on QT last night) keep telling us we are subjects?

It says on my passport, quite clearly, that I am a British citizen.

That is what the Home Office website tells me too.

In ten years (or less), the UK will have a new king. I think that will be the time for the country to reconsider its relationship - and possibly constitutional position - with the royal family. I think it will change and Prince Harry is possibly going down that route.

The day Queen Elizabeth dies will IMO be a genuine day of mourning. Apart from diehard republicans, I think most people would admit that she's done a brilliant job. However, her role as a constitutional monarch has to be questioned when the PM can lie to her and there were no consequences.

I'm no monarchist, but I'd rather have Queen Elizabeth than President Boris as my head of state.

Anniebach Fri 10-Jan-20 22:17:21

Things are changing but slowly.

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-20 22:23:23

I'm wondering who's going to take Andrew's place at Trooping the Colour this year. I always thought it would be Harry who, up until now, has accompanied whoever needed accompanying in a carriage.

Is a flunkie posting notices in the Buck House staff room - 'Can anyone ride a horse?' grin

Callistemon Fri 10-Jan-20 22:28:47

Anne?
Or Zara! Mind you, she might want to gallop.

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-20 22:33:09

Anne already rides alongside Charles and William. I suppose Edward is an obvious choice although he ducked out of his military career.

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-20 22:34:31

Mind you, she might want to gallop.

Dressage down the mall might be more entertaining. grin

Anniebach Fri 10-Jan-20 22:34:34

If Andrew doesn’t take part it will be a serving officer of the
Grenadier Guards

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 22:46:06

He'll pop back. They will let him into the country now and again. That'll be his great granny's birthday won't it? Bound to come back for that.

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 22:47:11

I don't think they will actually put a ban on him. And if they did he'd sneak back under the wire.

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 22:47:49

He loves his great granny. Remember that "boom!" picture.

lucywinter Fri 10-Jan-20 22:48:33

It's granny isn't it? Not great granny? Totally confused with it all now.

Anniebach Fri 10-Jan-20 22:50:20

He loves his granny so makes that public announcement!

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-20 22:53:23

Didn't he once say she scares the shit out of him if he bumps into her in Buck House? grin

maddyone Fri 10-Jan-20 22:55:10

Well anyway, didn’t H+M say that they want to be part time royals? So therefore he could come back for some events and avoid others.

phoenix Fri 10-Jan-20 23:00:24

maddyone so, sort of a "pick & mix"? Must try that approach with my job!

Oopsminty Fri 10-Jan-20 23:03:59

The monarchy is doing fine. Modernising? I'd say it was very modern with loads of trauma and divorces going on

I have no problem with them living wherever they want.

What I do have a problem with is what they are going to do

It appears that they have their Sussex Royal brand.

So they want to be apart from the Royals but still use royal link in order to make themselves self financing

I imagine we'll possibly see them on chat shows, writing books and generally using the Royal family to make their own money. Which isn't really self financing

Seems a tad grubby

Let's hope she doesn't mail her engagement and wedding ring back to Harry in the post

maddyone Fri 10-Jan-20 23:16:42

Phoenix, well yes, pick n’ mix, that describes what they want I think. Not saying I think that should be the case, I don’t, but I think it’s what they want. I think if they want out, they should go, and get on with their lives privately. Without any funding from Britain and without being able to trade on their royal status, meaning the website SussexRoyal.

maddyone Fri 10-Jan-20 23:18:18

I wish you luck with the pick ‘ mix approach with your job Phoenix grin

Namsnanny Sat 11-Jan-20 01:02:40

Ooopsminty … that's the phrase I was looking for
a tad grubby
Also of course its simply untrue that they will support themselves without 'using' their connections, one way or another.
