Hospital Appointment - attending?

DH has an appointment at the hospital this Sunday to see a consultant, he's been waiting for about 8 months.

The communication I've had has been excellent all the way through and I can understand if that's been an issue although to be fair, if I was expecting or hoping to hear from a hospital and hadn't, I would call/email to check.

Some top-flight teaching hospitals are bliddy wonderful, Baggs but their admin is a standing joke.
The Royal Free could lose Paw’s notes between two clinics or between a clinic and the ward.

Poor communications by health boards/hospitals are another matter, maw.

Presumably the operations are not really necessary then?

Still very rude, not to say abusive of NHS services, to just not turn up. What a waste of resources.

And some hospitals don’t send you the appointment in time to be there (same day, 50+ miles away) and some don’t send notice at all and some send you the wherewithal for the full starvation / Movi-Prep preparation for a colonoscopy and when you get there you find it’s a gastroscopy - no starvation or Movi- Prep involved)
Email and texts and confirmation are so much better - you have some proof!
Whereas to be told “a letter was generated” is not good enough if “a letter never arrived”

Some people don't even bother to attend for operations - the cost will be in the 1000s not 150- theatre time, aneathetist, surgeon and assistants, specialised nurses, etc, etc, etc.
