Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

grapefruitpip Thu 21-Nov-19 17:34:50

I think Epstein was murdered by people with a lot to lose. I don't buy the guards having naps scenario.

suziewoozie Thu 21-Nov-19 17:37:10

Cool have you read the thread?

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 17:37:14

If nothing else, he is guilty of remaining a loyal friend to a convicted paedophile, CoolioC.

Staying at houses with young teenage girls flitting around and being offered 'massages' by these girls, pictures of young girls on the walls etc, surely would arise suspicion in even someone who is very stupid?

Surely anyone with a jot of decency would distance themselves from such a friend, not stay with them, accept money from them ?

suziewoozie Thu 21-Nov-19 17:39:18

I believe the guards had naps - they were paid to and there’s a nice sum waiting for them in the Cayman Islands when they get out ( except they’ll probably meet a murky end sometime)

Anniebach Thu 21-Nov-19 17:39:19

Did he say he was offered massages Callistemon ?

suziewoozie Thu 21-Nov-19 17:40:31

He said nothing happened annie but yes others have said he had massages

MawB Thu 21-Nov-19 17:43:13

Does it matter whether Epstein hanged himself or was murdered when looking at the crimes involved and their ramifications.
As for VR being 17, I know many girls are not exactly “children” at 17, but the bottom line is that in the US she was below the age of consent (18) and sex with a minor is de facto rape. Of course teenage sex is common enough, but the law was so framed to punish cases of an adult taking sexual advantage of a minor.
Some states set a minimum age difference for the defence to be applicable, so that e.g. if the “adult” is only 3 years or less older than the”minor” no crime has been committed or the penalty is less severe. This is sometimes referred to as a “Romeo and Juliet” case.

World media and FBI are going to do a great deal of investigative work on PA finances. Sleazy brown envelopes and dodgy dealings will no doubt be uncovered in the process and I would not be surprised if this uncovered much money lost to the uk. Its a can of stinking worms which has just been opened, the tip of the iceberg

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 17:44:25

It's a pity Epstein is not here to face justice.

pinkquartz Thu 21-Nov-19 18:12:21

Coolico

He has been receiving £249,000 per year plus all the security and travel paid for by Tax payers
I can't call that nothing.

And as for the rest of your comment.....he was known to be very good friends with a convicted child abuser......it's not about one girl

Smileless2012 Thu 21-Nov-19 18:15:42

Maybe he's facing his justice elsewhere Callistemon

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 18:21:28

Possibly, but he may have named many names under oath.

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 18:46:36

Sorry Callistemon
He is supported by the Queen from her private income, plus his Navy pension.

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 18:51:38

Pink Quartz
The 249K came from the Queens private income. Further monies came from the public purse when he carried out duties for the Monarchy including those of accompanying businessman overseas including to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As for being friends with a child abuser, yes he is guilty of being a very stupid man but so far nothing more.

Urmstongran Thu 21-Nov-19 19:11:47

His Navy pension at £20,000 p.a. Wouldn’t keep PA in cuff links!
?

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 19:26:47

Yes, I have read the thread and contributed.

The age of consent in the US is not 18, it is between 16-18 depending upon which state you are in. I cannot u derstand people on this thread that do not check their facts. The girl in question in the interview with PA was 17, above the age of consent in that state.

No other girls have come forward and shouted regarding PA to my knowledge. I do believe they have regarding a high profile lawyer in the US who is now suing the girl/s.

Floradora9 Thu 21-Nov-19 19:28:32

I had to smile at one royal correspondent who explained that A would no longer get money from the Privy purse but would be allowed in the balcony at Buck house on state occasions . I just wonder what form the daughter's wedding will take now . There will be an outcry if the public are paying for any of it .

Iam64 Thu 21-Nov-19 19:41:08

CoolioC, have you any experience of working with girls or boys who have been sexually exploited or trafficked? The comments you make about PA suggest your sympathy lies with him, rather than the children involved.

grapefruitpip Thu 21-Nov-19 19:46:20

and of course that would be perfectly normal?

pinkquartz Thu 21-Nov-19 19:52:41

CoolioC

And the Queen gets money from the taxpayer as well as being v rich.

So what is the £249,000 then? Is that his share?
They get a lot of money and PA is the worst example of a man with nothing on his mind except his own pleasure.

He is not a man I could have any sympathy for.

MawB Thu 21-Nov-19 19:56:11

I apologise for getting the age of consent in NY City wrong Coolio but had indeed not checked and it is 17.
That said, if VR was not (even if only just) a minor there must still be something “shady”
How long had she been with Epstein? How old was she when procured etc ?
I can well imagine PA not wanting to admit to having sex with a girl just 5 years older than his daughter, but surely a competent adviser could have come up with a rebuttal of the girl’s minority to deflect attention from the sex bit?
So not illegal, as such, because of her age but mega sleazy and when you add in “sex worker” or trafficked, the water gets very muddy indeed. .
There are those oldish pics of PA surrounded by topless beauties on a yacht or beach somewhere , again much younger than him. Fergie’s topless pics with her “financial adviser”having her ties sucked (eurgh!) were cringeworthy, but hardly worse.
What an absolute shower!

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 20:13:52

I am entitled to my opinion.

I have not worked with young people who have been trafficked. I do however remember being a teenager and I do remember young girls going to the back doors to see their fave stars as being starstruck. Equally, I think girls and boys are now worse regarding celebrity and it’s get rich quick culture. As far as I understand, PA is about his stupidity with remaining friends with Epstein which I think for a bloke of his age should have realised. As for young women over the age of consent, they could have left, couldn’t they?

There are plenty of sleazy dirty old men in this world. When I was younger, dirty old buggers used to hang around nightclubs surely, women of a certain age remember this? It was up to you to tell them to bigger off or not your choice? I personally had a short, sharp shock at a young age which made me very wary of even lads of my age group. Even so, going back to the back doors of concerts, what did the young girls go behind for?

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 20:18:15

Pink quartz
It’s quite evident that you and I will never agree, so we will have to agree to disagree. I am a royalist and you are not. I do not standup for PA as he is guilty of nothing other than stupidity at the moment. Trial by press is not my sort of thing it stinks. The queen has a private income including from the tax payer but also from her own wealth, if she gives it to her son that is up to her.

MawB Thu 21-Nov-19 20:19:01

I think it is simplistic to say Well they could have left couldn’t they ?
Let’s not go down that road, you hear the same in cases of domestic abuse and coercive control. Easy to say, much, much harder to do.

CoolioC Thu 21-Nov-19 20:20:48

Maw B
I agree, that side of the royal family is an absolute bloody disaster. I do wonder what will happen to them once the Queen has passed.

floradora9
The princess is having a quiet wedding as I already explained in a previous posting.
