Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

Gonegirl Mon 18-Nov-19 13:40:09

I suppose the police are only after the men who "used" (sorry for the awful word) Epstein's underage girls.

Not sure I understand it all.

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 13:43:42

The girl was 17, she was not underage so it stinks of a big payday for her.

I wonder in today’s society how many remember hanging around boys/men or even outside the back door after a concert. I didn’t do this because even at 14 I asked my self what were you hanging around the back door of concerts for? These girls/women are now shouting abuse? Really?

The girl was 17, what did she think she was doing, there was the door to walk out of or did she stupidly think celebrity, I might get an easy ride here through life? There is no easy ride not yesterday, today or in the future. He was very silly but a child abuser no, just hounded by our very silly press.

Sparkle the other men are of no importance, they are not members of the royal family , republicans must be thrilled.

Gonegirl Mon 18-Nov-19 13:49:28

It's Epstein they're really after aren't they. (I know he's dead)

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 13:55:52

Yes Gonegirl you would like to think it’s the person who was found guilty in a court of law that they are after but it’s not, it’s trial by UK press. Epstein was found guilty and perhaps they are after his money now he’s dead.

Anniebach Mon 18-Nov-19 13:58:21

Now Epstein is dead , what’s left for them ? Money

Sparklefizz Mon 18-Nov-19 13:59:23

Yes, Annie, PA is the scapegoat.

^ the other men are of no importance, they are not members of the royal family , republicans must be thrilled.^

Smileless2012 Mon 18-Nov-19 14:06:08

For me there are two separate things here all be it connected.

One is whether or not PA had sex with someone who had been trafficked for sexual exploitation and the other, is the fact that he continued to have contact with a convicted sexual predator and abuser.

We don't know that he is guilty of the first but there is no doubt that he is guilty of the second.

He showed no remorse for his association with Epstein or any acknowledgement of pain and suffering of Epstein's victims. The backlash continues and for the aforementioned alone, whether or not he is guilty of the allegation made against him, it is well deserved.

Bridgeit Mon 18-Nov-19 14:11:41

Many , many men have the decency to NOT take advantage of what is on offer ,especially from a YOUNG female who is being coerced into sexual activities .
Men who choose to accept/ take advantage of these young girls, would, one assumes , be horrified if it were their own daughters, the fact that they are not implies to me that they consider themselves to be far more important & entitled to do as they please, because they can & because have no moral compass. One really cannot get much lower than using another human being for ones own gratification just because they can. !
How different this situation would have been , if the males concerned in this sworded affair had taken theses girls to one sided & offered them help advice about alternative life choices.

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:12:25

Understood Smileless2012. However, why on earth should he apologise for something he has not done? Would you? He may be guilty of being a fool and associating himself with Epstein however why should he apologise or say about the pain and suffering of something he had noting to do with? Why is it these days everyone is a victim? Society has gone soft.

Calendargirl Mon 18-Nov-19 14:14:00

Surely Beatrice will now be planning a low key wedding, not a big public shindig at Windsor? A discreet overseas wedding I imagine, not too much fuss and expense?

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:14:03

Perhaps Bridgeit they don’t want advice on how their lives should be? At that age did you? Let’s face it, we all knew best at that age didn’t we.

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:15:20

Beatrice is planning a very low key affair before this came to light.

Bridgeit Mon 18-Nov-19 14:17:21

Even more incumbent on the user to make a stand & not be an advantage taker.

Bridgeit Mon 18-Nov-19 14:19:58

I put myself in a stupid situation at one time , fortunately for me the older person was a decent person, & I learnt a valuable lesson about Trust, Naivety & Danger . For which I am very grateful .

Anniebach Mon 18-Nov-19 14:25:50

Why should Beatrice not marry in St George’s Chapel ? Her cousins and sister did

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:27:24

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. Call girls, Lady boys etc, etc. Men have always taken advantage. Women for a quick buck, or perhaps celebrity lay open to this. What about professional women that use men?

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:28:52

Anniebach, because she doesn’t actually want to, I believe a low key affair is what they want.

grapefruitpip Mon 18-Nov-19 14:35:06

I absolutely object to " Men have always taken advantage"

CoolioC Mon 18-Nov-19 14:37:14

Sorry Grapefruit, some men have always taken advantage. I agree, I should t have generalised.

Bridgeit Mon 18-Nov-19 14:38:56

Using is using which ever way around it is.
Sometimes folks are not aware that they do it , some are perfectly aware & many enjoy being users.
Which is why there are laws in place to discourage those who over step the mark & to protect those who are vulnerable.
It is the power balance that denotes wither or not one is being used (imo )

Callistemon Mon 18-Nov-19 15:16:28

Bluebelle I think the young woman pictured saying goodbye when PA was hiding behind Epstein's door was not a possibly trafficked youngster, she was the 30 something daughter of Paul Keating, ex-Australian Prime Minister.

Anniebach Mon 18-Nov-19 15:20:57

Understandable that he would know the daughter of a former
Australian PM

Callistemon Mon 18-Nov-19 15:28:21

Bridgeit 18 Nov 14:11
I agree well put.

And yes, we should be concerned about all the other men who were allegedly involved, Sparklefizz despite what I was informed up thread.
They are not just any old celebrities, they are or were world leaders.

Callistemon Mon 18-Nov-19 15:29:15

Especially the PM who put his arm round Andrew's mother!
