It's so sad when special people disappear. Any news on the recently departed?

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 12:13:04

He starts the GM thread.

Mick always starts the Good Morning thread. It's sort of a tradition. Confusion reigns if he goes away!

Pantglas2 Sun 17-Nov-19 12:18:08

You’re right Urmstongran- I simply wasn’t aware of the tradition that Mick started it off and welcomed everyone bright and early each morning.

I apologised to Mick as well for being trigger happy (I must have been an hour ahead in Spain!) and he was fine about it.

I think starting every day with kind thoughts to all is such a good thing to do - good for the poster and those reading. Some are sad, some funny, some inspiring and a few though provoking - what’s not to like?

And then we c@n go on to the news and politics threads for some cut and thrust and learn something new every day it seems - it’s certainly broadened my outlook!

Should read ‘thought provoking’.....

Oh I see! I'll have to wake up earlier.

jenpax Sun 17-Nov-19 12:34:04

I agree that some people are seemingly missed more than others if they don’t post, and also find that some people’s contributions are ignored while others saying the same thing are not. There is no rhyme or reason to it. But the threads are usually entertaining and I enjoy reading other people’s comments whether prolific posters or occasional ones!

Kalu Sun 17-Nov-19 12:35:45

The GM thread is where members have got to ‘know’ one another over the years. Possibly this is what gave you the impression it was cliquey

Pity you didn’t stay around for anyone to get to ‘know’ you too.

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 12:42:38

Well said jenpax

Evie64 Sun 17-Nov-19 13:01:04

Oh dear, this thread seems to be a bit "handbags at dawn"! Live and let live, that's my motto. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even ones I don't agree with. wink

annep1 Sun 17-Nov-19 13:02:39

I didn't always agree with GabriellaG54 but there was never a dull moment with her! ?
I have missed Paddyann too. I was waiting for her to post on God save our gracious queen. ?

Gonegirl Sun 17-Nov-19 13:03:01

Perhaps we should shut up, at least about Gabriella now she is back. grin

annep1 Sun 17-Nov-19 13:04:01

How silly someone complaining about someone other than Mike starting Good Morning thread!

Gonegirl Sun 17-Nov-19 13:04:05

GABRIELLA (shouts) You need to post on this thread and tell 'em what's what.

rafichagran Sun 17-Nov-19 13:38:27

Anepp Posters are not silly to complain if they see something they disagree with. Gransnet is for everyone. If someone wants to start a thread they can. That comment was patronising.

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 13:41:56

GoneGirl love it! ??

kittylester Sun 17-Nov-19 13:46:43

And , annepl, it's a bit rude joining a long standing 'group' without being polite enough to find out how things operate!

GracesGranMK3 Sun 17-Nov-19 13:48:03

.no poster, either past or present should be talked about after they have left the forum, especially having a thread started up about them.

You mean tearing apart a group of members who take a break is actually not allowed Lemongrove. This must be a very new rule as I very clearly remember you joining in the attacks that could be described in exactly that way.

kittylester Sun 17-Nov-19 13:49:59

I'd also like to add, that it would be silly for those of us who have been around for ages to pretend we don't know each other!

GreatNan put me right about that ages ago!

grapefruitpip Sun 17-Nov-19 14:09:57

Please could somebody tell me, so I don't put my foot in it again, what's what?

Gabriella is back but she was also somebody else?

It's beyond my pea sized brain.

rafichagran Sun 17-Nov-19 14:10:34

Not rude, Kittylester, Grannet is a public forum anyone can post or start a thread. I will not post on Good Morning and respect there may be a reason other people cannot start the post; you need to remember Gransnet is a Public and about everyone, not just the few.

MawB Sun 17-Nov-19 14:12:29

“About everyone, not just the few” - now where have I heard that before? ??grin

Megs36 Sun 17-Nov-19 14:28:22

Interesting comments about Mick starting This morning posts, some while ago when I and a poster in Oz commented when 'he' had computer problems and wasn't starting the morning, I was severely slapped down by many regular names, I then suggested cliquey but was assured that is not the case......

rafichagran Sun 17-Nov-19 14:58:39

Ha Ha Maw It did sound like a sentence in a political speech. It was meant to. grin

rafichagran Sun 17-Nov-19 14:59:05

Was not meant too.
