Thanks, Pudding. It's a much better solution than poking a knitting needle down the plughole by which means I managed to make a hole in the drainage pipe and almost flooded the kitchen underneath.

Just a little tip,after I have had my shower I use an old clean mascara wand to poke down the plughole to remove any hair...it works a treat.

I agree with MissAdventure. It shouldn't be leaving it's track so get the fitting checked.

Watermeadow, I don't think you should be struggling to refit the doors already.

Why not call your man back out to adjust them?
I'm sure that is all it would take.

I just have a bath instead.

One of my curved doors has come off its runners and I can’t get the top wheels back in the groove. This is the second time in a month. Is this very common or has my lovely builder installed a rubbish model? Is there a knack to getting it back on track?

Peonyrose (pretty name!) when our ensuite was redone we had a 'dual fuel' towel rail installed. It heats up either via the central heating system or electrically, if the CH is off. We're really pleased with it. It's similar to this.

LondonGranny - I don't have a "power shower" so could be wrong, but years ago I did look into it and they had a pump which made the water flow fast and "full".
I thought the low water pressure was nothing to do with it? Does anyone know?
Though obviously we're all much more conscious of wasting water now.

My son and DIL have a real problem with their shower which is a tray in a small alcove with a curtain - no matter what they do they can't stop the water going over the side of the tray and wetting the wooden floor. They have a very old cottage and a glass screen won't fit the odd size. Does anyone have a simple remedy for that?

This is the one reason I won't have my bath out and a walk in shower installed. At the moment I have a shower over the bath and a shower screen, cleaning it takes longer than having a shower and getting dried.
On this subject has anyone had a bathroom radiator replaced with a heated towel rail, are the enough to heat the room?

Ive discovered a channel under the doors filled with green scum. Never noticed before. How can I clean in that small space, bleach hasnt worked.

I've got all-in-one bath taps and shower. I asked about one of those electric power showers when I had the nasty stained social housing shallow acrylic bath taken out and a deep enamel bath put in with an integral shower/tap fitting as opposed to the rubber one that fits over the bath taps. Best money I ever spent. The plumber said I may as well stand there & burn ten pound notes as power showers were expensive to install and not that ecologically sound as they use more energy and more water. She also reckoned the water pressure wasn't good enough either. A trustworthy plumber is worth their weight in gold. First female plumber I ever encountered and she was brilliant.
I never grew up with a shower (apart from the horrors of cold communal showers at school after PE) and when I first left home I often used the local Slipper Baths as opposed to a shared bathroom with a slowly trickling, fumey Ascot heater and other tenants banging on the door telling you to hurry up as your bath filled with lukewarm water.
Anyway, I live in a very limescaley area and I find white vinegar very good. I remove the shower head about twice a year and soak that in white vinegar overnight to remove limescale. I don't have a glass partition, just a shower curtainthat fits inside the bath along its full length that does need replacing every now and then.
For me, a shower will never be as luxurious as reclining in a deep hot bath.

Rinse all round and scrape water off with a squeegee that is on a holder in the cubicle, quick wipe with a microfibre cloth (or even a dry flannel), do this after every shower. It takes seconds. I never use specific cleaners, just white vinegar occasionally.

Biggest problem I've had with shower cubicles is that the sealant always fails.

We just take the excess water off tile and glass with a squeegee and dry with e cloths. My shower has never been cleaned with chemicals and still looks like new.

Instal a water softener - it makes a huge difference. Apparently we are in the hardest water area in the country where we are and the difference it has made is remarkable.

I'd feel that I needed another shower if I cleaned the shower in the buff! . Don't you get cold?

and have had the same spray for last 10 years- with water and vinegar mix which I refill as and when- about once a week.

Wh have had our shower in situ for many years. Looks as good as new. Squeegee off the water after every shower. Clean the tiles with dilute flash. Shower screen with fairy liquid.

watermeadow, what you need is underfloor heating in there - absolute bliss!

I also clean the glass in my shower starkers while I’m in it, it only takes a minute to swipe the glass hardly time to get cold but I’m still showering with no heating on so I must be hardy ??.
I do clean the tray and drain weekly when I’m dressed but barefoot as it’s a long tray.

Now another question: the new heated towel rail doesn’t get the shower room warm enough to stand starkers, wiping down the cubicle. It’s electric and I switch it on an hour before showering, set at 21. As the central heating thermostat is at 17, shouldn’t 21 be plenty to warm a small shower room?

I prefer to clean the shower when I am in it, starkers, yes! (Am I the only one who does this....?)

I prefer a bath to a shower so I'm curious about this. Are you still standing in the shower, starkers, when you're doing this spraying and wiping? Or do you get dried and dressed and then go back and clean it?
