Tea.... and more tea

How do you decide which to choose?

wildswan16 me too. I have only three types of coffee (beans, ground, instant), but the number of teas I have is ridiculous! Many of them were gifts - and from all over the world.

I have floral tea from France, Green tea from Taiwan, black teas from China and India. Lapsang souchong (not my favourite), Earl Grey, Lady Grey, every kind of mint tea, lots of fruit flavoured teas, herbal tea, decaffeinated tea, Fair Trade tea - and (here is my confession) Tetleys, aka Builder's tea!

I just tidied out my tea and coffee cupboard today and threw out loads of different teas, some dating back to 2014. I think they'd have tasted of nothing but dust and ashes.

I also tackled the Tupperware cupboard, so we're no longer in danger of being buried under a tsunami of plastic containers every time we open the door.

Oh dear ...
When we had a long weekend in Suffolk recently, my partner brought home some of the fruit tea bags, which were part of the extensive range provided in the hotel room.

When he was putting them in the kitchen cupboard, he found a tin at the back, which contained a very similar selection of fruit tea bags, from another hotel room. Fearing these teas had been there for a while, we checked the use by dates ... and found they were 2008 !

I have fresh and instant coffee and PG tea bags

Douwe Egberts instant coffee granules and Yorkshire teabags.

I'm obviously a terrible Philistine.

I drink lots of very weak milky tea, no sugar (in a large 'breakfast cup' with skimmed milk) - maybe seven cups a day, sometimes eight or nine. In the evening I switch to decaff tea to calm feelings of guilt after being told by a nutritionist at the GPs that I drink too much tea - too much caffeine isn't good for you, apparently.

I buy a large bag of 420 tea bags when available. This bag is so big that it doesn't fit into any of my kitchen cupboards so it sits on the stairs until the level has been squashed down and then it can be rammed onto a shelf - which won't take too long.

I love my tea and don't think it does me any real harm - there are worse habits, aren't there? Put the kettle on.

I drink ordinary tea, coffee ( cafetière and bags) and cocoa sometimes. I also have lots of fruit tea bags. My favourite drink at the moment is a turmeric,saffron and cardomom latte. Good for eyes ( so they say )
