Hello kitchen folk, it’s been ages since I’ve popped in little idea about what’s going on for who but will do my best to catch up! We had a very restful, to be more accurate a very idle week away in Tenerife. The weather was such a welcome change from grey winter skies and rain, there’s just something about blue skies and warmth that lifts the spirits. We lazed about and enjoyed some good meals with a bit of wine of course, it would have been rude not to sample the local restaurants! We came back to a bit of a busy week but I’m determined to ease my pace as I really was washed out before we went away. I’m my own worst enemy, I and actually both of us need to manage our diaries more effectively.

soop That’s a beautiful dog painting and much appreciated I’m sure. In fact I had a a teary eye when I looked at it, a close friend suddenly lost her much loved spaniel, another Stella a few weeks ago. She too was a a lovely gentle dog. I notice that as always folk are encouraging you to take care of yourself ^soop*, I do hope you’re able to do that... but I hae ma doots on that one! But on the other hand having a sense of achievement after a productive day is a great thing to feel, so we will all forgive you for keeping busy!

Beautiful family photo n&g, one to treasure for sure. We’ve looked through the photo book the family did for our Golden Wedding lots of times over the last few weeks, any unsuspecting guests have had to have a peek too!! It’s hard to imagine that having access to photos in this way is something our parents never had. Anyone else have those rather stiff formal photos of the last generation?

Unicorns and rainbows sound like a lovely birthday theme, for a wee girl Susan. Ours are all growing up now, I do miss those birthday parties of a few years ago.

Just waiting for dd4 to arrive for an overnight stay. Hopefully she has now clinched the deal on her new home, it’s all been a bit tense the past few weeks. There were some telephone calls back and forth from Tenerife and latterly Yorkshire as her dad advised and supported her in her negotiations. Hats off to her she held her nerve and got a good deal, but I just wish she had a special someone to share it all with. But the roast beef is in the oven and the Prosecco is chilling here! I just hope the exchange/completion process goes smoothly from now on in.

Well I must be off, I’m leaving some holiday photos especially for Ann as I know she has happy memories of Tenerife!
As always toya, especially all with heavy hearts today

Just thinking and appreciating your friendship and caring uplifts.Hoping that you are all able to enjoy some home comforts whilst escaping from all this unpredictable weather which is being dished out here, there and everywhere.

Having lost a lovely lady from our table of six,a lady whom was laughing and simply "one of us" up until two days ago, indeed we are truly finding it getting very hard to maintain that cheerful upper lip, especially after our own set back.

A peaceful day in the warmth of our new home is the best and most appropriate tonic this day, although kind christian friends below us ensured we were not feeling too low.... by inviting us for afternoon tea yesterday,we came away feeling loved and some of our fighting spirit is again slowly reappearing.

TOYA dear friends xx.

N&G and soop your red outfits are very seasonal and the those wearing them look lovely. Enjoy the birthday party susan56 Panache I’m holding you in my thoughts. I’ve had dancing granddaughters and their brother here for a few hours today. All my furniture has to set to one side so they can preform for us. It didn’t merit a standing ovation wink but I managed to look suitably impressed.

Doodle Sun 17-Nov-19 16:04:00

maw sorry you are feeling ?. Really sorry but please keep wearing the ? and don’t ? in the kitchen. I have made you a nice bowl of hot soup ? (pea by the look of it ?) and will leave it on the worktop (not wanting to get too close). Hope you feel ? soon and that ? is taking good care of you. Doodle Sun 17-Nov-19 16:04:34

MawB Sun 17-Nov-19 16:33:24

? ? ? (ringing and intoning “unclean, unclean”)
I have got my ????firmly in place but am very grateful for the soup!

soop Sun 17-Nov-19 16:34:48

Maw Why the tears? Please accept a warm and tender (((hug))) from me. Doodle will provide you with hot soup no matter what the flavour and that hot toddy sounds very tempting.

Panache Good neighbours are worth their weight in gold.

Lovely photos granniequeenie I especially like the torquoise sea. Not sure that is the correct spelling. You know what I mean. wink

morethan How lovely to have dancing granddaughters perform for you. I recall being given a clarinet recital when one of our grand daughters was very young. It didn't matter that all the notes were not necessarily in the right order. grin

Thank you, dragonfly and grannysyb. MacS has just this minutes remarked that he likes this hair style.

Time to log off. It's been a beautiful sunny day. Log fire waiting to be lit. My love to one and all. Back in the kitchen tomorrow. smile moon

soop Sun 17-Nov-19 16:36:04

Maw Apologies. I must have missed that you've been under the weather healthwise. Get well pretty damn quick. x

dragonfly46 Sun 17-Nov-19 17:20:20

cornergran Sun 17-Nov-19 18:34:29

Evening All. Visitors gone and energy drained, good company for a couple of days was very welcome.

Well we are home from the party,it all went very well but we are exhausted? The birthday girl had a lovely time and Stanley the unicorn was a great success.I have hopefully added a photo of a rather windswept little girl???

Susan56 Sun 17-Nov-19 18:54:10

Matilda is lovely Susan

Susan56 Sun 17-Nov-19 19:09:12

Sorry for the overload of messages!Just thought I would share this picture of Matilda with her fairy wings. They were a gift from a friend and so heavy but she kept them on for the whole afternoon??‍♀️?

Synonymous Sun 17-Nov-19 19:27:33

soop you are looking really good, the red suits you and your hair looks lovely. smile
It is rarely possible to exclude cats from barns as they naturally gravitate to such places and certainly keep the pests at bay, particularly the rodents but then perhaps the new lady is not a country woman and wouldn't know that.
So sad for Brodie, perhaps the trapping and vet visit was all too much of a shock to his system or maybe he was just very old. sad

Smokie has been grounded today since he was out for about 36 hours and I was beside myself. I thought for a while that I was going to be left with just his portrait! Last night he was desperate to get out and he could obviously see that something was in the garden and he was running from room to room meowing and chittering out of the windows overlooking the back garden - quite gave me the heebie jeebies which is not something that often happens to me. hmm He seems to have calmed down a bit now thankfully and I assume it was the badger again, I will be so pleased when it semi-hibernates and hope it will be very soon!
Himself has been able to use his leg for a short while today and stupidly I have been feeling very tearful about it all. It has been about six weeks of wheelchair and crutches so has been an exhausting time. We are trying to ensure it is only worn for short periods so that we are not back to square one again.
TOYA flowers

kittylester Sun 17-Nov-19 19:32:59

Lovely photos everyone.

Sorry you are feeling under the weather maw DH and I have both had a flipping cold and cough that never quite goes.

You look lovely soop - red does suit you. And the unicorn looks very forebearing, susan.

panache, I'm sorry you gave more bad news to contend with.

Weve just had a little excitement as dh's nose spontaneously started bleeding! He has recently started taking aspirin (under gp's orders) so a visit to the surgery seems in order! And a visit from the carpet cleaners too.

moggie57 Sun 17-Nov-19 19:34:17

Doodle Sun 17-Nov-19 20:01:23

Ok maw I know it’s a little early but I thought a wee ? might help you sleep. I’ve been out and bought a bogof of tissues and put them out for you. Glad you liked the green soup (wonder what was in it ?) now curl up on the sofa with ? and keep warm. Try not to sneeze too loudly, I’m watching the TV ?

annsixty Sun 17-Nov-19 20:12:41

So sorry for your situation moggie
I really have little to say that will help you.

NanaandGrampy Sun 17-Nov-19 20:36:30

Evening all,

Love you in red Soop !

Susan , Matilda is adorable ! I love a good fairy dress .

That’s pile of stuff Moggie , have you tried looking on Freecycle to see if anyone is parting with any of the things you want in good condition for free? .As for your heating problem in the short term , why not move your desk into the same room as the heater , and if you have no sofa , could you move your bed in too ? So everything is in one room , cheaper to keep warm?

It’s been a crafting day here , the little boys needed letters from Santa inviting them to visit in a couple of weeks and I needed some birthday cards !

Time for a coffee for me - best wishes to you all ! X

Doodle Sun 17-Nov-19 22:47:13

Sorry to hear your problems moggie. Could you try asking age concern for help. They often have furniture stores. Good idea from N&G to move into one room if you can to try and keep warm. Some of our local charity shops have blankets or duvets you could see if yours have anything to help you keep warm.

MawB Sun 17-Nov-19 23:35:39

Moggie, Age Concern, Emmaus, BHF are all people I have given furniture to in the past. Could they help you out?
It breaks my heart to see perfectly serviceable furniture at the tip when there is enough life in it for someone who needs it.
Have you also thought of a heated throw Moggie - Lakeland sell them as do QVC and Argos etc.
Wish I could offer more practical help though.
Thanks for the wee dram it will be an improvement on the Lemsip!
