I'll go first. I've got 3 handbags, 2 pairs of OK shoes, a pair of boots I'm not that keen on ,and a pair of trainers.

As I've just packed away two holdalls of sandals, beach shoes and cruise-wear shoes perhaps I shouldn't answer this question either!
Ten pairs of smart shoes in a door hanger and five pairs of boots in the bottom of the wardrobe. In a shoe cupboard are about five pairs of everyday shoes and some gardening shoes. Also a pair of wellies around somewhere and if this rain keeps up I need to find them!
OH has a collection too. He has a storage box of good leather shoes (Churches etc.) which are no longer comfortable as he was walking awkwardly prior to a knee op. but he doesn't want to part with them!!!

56 pairs of shoes, 38 hang bags, shamed to admit it

And storage ...... my husband built me a shoe cupboard as part of our fitted wardrobes ?

I have several handbags but have just had a ruthless clearout. I have two larger tote bags which can fit my knitting, kindle, slippers, lunch, bottle water, purse, glasses, tissues etc. I also have four occasion type clutches which I've often lent to daughter. I tend to really look after things & polish shoes so they do last. No mules or flip flops because I can't keep them on & I don't want to fall. I'm suffering with swollen feet now and sadly had to part with many pairs of very good shoes to charity. The expense of having to buy extra wide shoes means I won't be splashing out on many more! But when my feet were dainty how I loved to buy shoes.

Just bought 4 pairs of shoes last week as my old ones are almost worn out. So 5prs shoes, 4prs boots, wellies, 2prs slippers and 2 handbags. Have 5 prs sandals packed away for spring.

I have a friend who literally has two pairs of shoes (she lives in a hot country) - a pair of sandals and a pair of flats. Her response to any amazement is always "But I only have one pair of feet!"

She was a bit of a hippy back in the day.

Grammaretto, we have a very useful big cellar, which we converted to a playroom back in the day. It’s now a dumping ground utility/storage area. I bought a modular shoe storage system to fit on one of the low shelves, so there they are in all their splendour. I have to hurdle piles of emergency chairs, books, washing and storage boxes to get to them but at least I can see what I’ve got now.

I do get my favourites repaired and rarely buy shoes or boots these days, though I did get two pairs of walking sandals this year as the others were done for.

janeainsworth Sun 13-Oct-19 12:41:13

I'm with Harrigran too, but my collection does include a pair of red suede 4-inch high-heeled peep toe Bally shoes that I was daft enough to wear at DD1's wedding, and will probably never wear again :D

1 handbag and 1 rucksack
3 pairs of trainers, 1 knee high boots, 2 sheepskin boots (1 tall and 1 short) 1 pair of best flat black shoes.
None have heels, all flat and wear slipper socks, and a lovely pair of posh wellies.

SparklyGrandma Sun 13-Oct-19 12:58:34

I keep things and they last for years because I look after them.

One M&S handbag I use everyday, also a posh one, a funeral John Lewis handbag ( it’s lasted me since 2001) and 2 posh totes, one a Bowden from 12 years ago.

6 pairs of sandals, 2 I have worn out this summer so maybe will replace. 2 pairs of Hotter shoes for trousers and 4 pairs of Gabor shoes for wearing with dresses and skirts, one very posh.

I take a size 8/9 shoes, and when I was younger I had terrible difficulty finding shoes to fit, so I always bought them when I saw them. Larger sizes are more readily available now but I still have that mind set and consequently have 3 pairs of boots and about 10 pairs of sandals and 1 pair of slippers. I have no excuse for having about 12 handbags, few of which I use more than once in a blue moon.

Its hard to find storage space in uk wardrobes. Wouldn`t it be lovely to have a purpose built walk in closet. I use a shoe bag screwed on the inside of a wardrobe door, a rack on the wardrobe floor and two elfa baskets in a unit inside and to the side of the wardrobe. That is just for the footwear

Flakesdayout Sun 13-Oct-19 13:49:32

Ooh too many to count. But in my defence (if I need a defence) I am getting rid of the uncomfortable high shoes and settling for comfort now. Gone are the days when I come home with sore feet.

EthelJ Sun 13-Oct-19 13:50:26

Probably more than I would like to admit but I only actually wear/use a couple of them, I don't like to throw them out just in case they come in useful. I should have another clear out but I have less money now than I did when I bought them and I spent too many years in my childhood and young adulthood not having enough money so I find it very hard.

glammanana Sun 13-Oct-19 14:23:10

I have far too many shoes and really should have a clear out to the charity shop I wear ballerina's on a daily basis they go well with skinny jeans during the summer months they are then replaced in winter by a pair of ankle boots which I have about 6/7 pairs in black brown and burgundy.
Bags have always been my passion and I will pay money for a good leather bag,I use a cross body bag in soft tan leather every day its easy to access and holds everything I need, when I swop bags I have an inner bag which I just lift out and place in another bag so I don't forget anything it cost about £3.00 from ebay and is a godsend,my favourite bag is a black leather bucket bag which I bought in the 60s I treat it every couple of years with a leather polish to keep it looking good.

I dare not count either bags, boots or shoes! In my defence, I take a size two wide fitting - so struggle to find nice shoes. I have arthritis in my feet (and most other joints) - so none are comfortable for long (including slippers). I would dearly love to wear pretty, dainty shoes with heels - but they are just not made in my size, - and I probably could not walk in them if, even if I found some. I change my shoes/boots to go with the colours of my outfits, and change handbags as well, if I'm going somewhere smart! p.s. I also have a suitcase in which I keep my scarves!

Megs36 Sun 13-Oct-19 15:11:44

Grapefruit pip, I'm nearly with you slightly more, but can't help thinkingtherearesome pretty wealthy GNs here, 50 pairs of footwear, numerous?? handbags!! Must all have massive storage too, no room here?

Bijou Sun 13-Oct-19 15:14:57

Two pairs of comfortable shoes, three pairs of sandals, one pair of warm boots, six pairs of slippers and a pair of rubber garden clogs. I have walking difficulties and do not go out much

Happysexagenarian Sun 13-Oct-19 15:15:00

Shoes: I usually only buy two pairs of shoes a year and then I wear them to death!
2 pairs of flat everyday shoes
2 pairs of sandals
1 pair of walking boots
1 pair of clogs (yes wooden ones . So comfortable)
1 pair of garden shoes
1 pair of wellies
1 pair of slippers
No smart dressy shoes - rarely have any need to wear them
No flip flops - don't wear them
No winter boots but may get some ankle boots soon

Bags: Now that's a different matter because I enjoy making bags from time to time.
2 leather shoulder bags
6 shoulder bags of various styles that I have made myself
2 beach bags (homemade)
1 framed overnight bag (homemade)
5 totebags (homemade)
2 clutch bags, last used about 10 years ago for family weddings

schnackie Sun 13-Oct-19 15:44:47

One pair of 'everyday' shoes, one pair of house-shoes, one pair of flip-flops and one pair of winter boots. One handbag. Less is more. grin

maeanna Sun 13-Oct-19 16:26:06

Over 100 pairs of shoes
