Looks like the Daily Mail is being sued by them regarding a private letter from the Duchess to her estranged father.

Who is behind the letter being shown to the paper? An unhappy member of their staff? Or Mr. Markle maybe?

I think W&K have found a ballance between honouring Di and referencing her but also moving on and carving their own niche in life out

merlotgran Sun 06-Oct-19 14:14:06

At least Meghan got her own engagement ring .

notanan2 Sun 06-Oct-19 13:42:10

i think Harry has his mother back now he has Megan.

If that's true she should run for the hills!
His displaced anger would worry me
M is not Di, and H cannot avenge Di's death through her! Its not healthy

W&K often refer to and honour Di without trying to re-create her. H seems to be doing his best to retrace Di's footsteps.

Absolutely notanan2.

notanan2 Sun 06-Oct-19 13:27:46

He doesnt even have to be a working Royal! W has heirs now and even W isnt next in line!

He could go do what he wants and give two fingers to the press/public

But he wants the job. And the job represents the state. Therefore his character (and Ms) is up for discussion!

notanan2 Sun 06-Oct-19 13:22:27

When he dated Chelsea they werent "hounded by the press" (theyre not now either buy y'know..)

Because H&C stuck to their high society chums in exclusive A list places and nobody was that interested. C was papped coming and going from parties/clubs a bit. But nobody had too much to say about them.

It could have been that way with M. But they chose to come back to be working royals and that job comes with accountability. And criticism is part of accountability.

Unless they start to control their own press output. Don’t forget there are millions across the world who are avid supporters and followers of the RF - they don’t care where the news comes from, and with social media taking over from news it’s a changing landscape

jo1book Sun 06-Oct-19 11:53:50

Without the Press they are nothing; think about it.

Anniebach Sat 05-Oct-19 19:19:27

Why sue the mail now , the letter was published in February.

Why sue the papers now, years after the phone hacking .

SirChenjin Sat 05-Oct-19 19:09:23

I think they’re paving the way for a move to the US and some sort of H&M media outlet where they control all output

merlotgran Sat 05-Oct-19 19:05:14

I think they've been a bit quiet of late.

notanan2 Sat 05-Oct-19 18:00:29

I think they would like an unofficial gagging order put on Ms family.

She is free to not talk about them. But they are free to talk about her

Anniebach Sat 05-Oct-19 17:18:36

When it comes to court she will have to swear on oath she didn’t tell her friends about the letter which leaves the question - if she didn’t who did? Her friends told the celebrity
magazine ‘people’ about the letter and it was then Mr Markle
gave the letter to the mail

I found this to be an interesting article

I agree with you notanan2

He could walk away he chooses not too. I never followed the Di stuff as I wasn't at all interested back then, but I do see he is playing a game with the Press......very reckless.
I don't want the Press to be afraid to report stories but also think that he has made a poor choice of enemy.

They really think they are above the rest of us and it's not really so. If he keeps pushing the boundary I think it might come back and hit him in the face.

notanan2 Sat 05-Oct-19 14:45:04

Both "hate" the trappings of Royal life, yet neither can walk away from it and choose a quieter life..

I think there are similarities there

grapefruitpip Sat 05-Oct-19 14:40:39

Are any of you carbon copy of one parent?

How strange to claim a slightly sharp comment to a journalist proves H is exactly like his mother.

oldgimmer1 Sat 05-Oct-19 14:27:59

Like mother, like son. smile.

notanan2 Sat 05-Oct-19 13:05:33

If he keeps looking for battles M wont be happy with him

And then if she leaves because of his bitterness he will use that as "proof" that we the public and the press "drove her away"....

Just like how Diana blamed everyone around her for her inability to be happy/content.

notanan2 Sat 05-Oct-19 13:02:00

H is also going after the BBC for reporting on far right groups calling him a race traitor in a report about far right extremists.

That wasnt even a report against him it was sympathetic to him and M!

He is lashing out. Making enemies and villans out of anyone/anything he cant control/manipulate! Again, just like Di!

Anniebach Sat 05-Oct-19 13:01:20

How embarrassing for Charles when they attended a variety concert and Diana suddenly appears on stage dancing with
Wayne Sleep. Not what a future queen consort does.

Anniebach Sat 05-Oct-19 12:57:57

I remember Charles when he was young , he was not petulant. So easy to dismiss he did what he had been prepared to do and be for from birth by the queen mother .

Diana was the darling of the public, Charles the baddie.

notanan2 Sat 05-Oct-19 12:57:06

Don’t agree Notanan he could also be very petulant as a young man

That was my point! Charles grew out of it. Harry did not.

Charles was also pretty spectacularly goaded and "set up" by Diana so no wonder he often looked grumpy. She was on a mission to make the public hate him and pity/love her!

Davidhs Sat 05-Oct-19 12:06:54

I’m surprised Harry is also suing, it seems over the top so I guess he is backing Meghan up.
I’ve seen this before with a couple who live closeby, they appealed a planning decision, it was the wife who opposed the decision on spurious grounds, they lost of course at a cost of £50k. Asking the husband, why when they had no chance, he replied “ it was much cheaper than a divorce”

So in for a penny in for a pound, the beginning of a very long saga, this will run and run.
