Ww2 not planning to discuss content or lack therof, just wondering if the announcements have been "regionalised" in an attempt to make them more relevant to the audience.

Not thinking about dubious content but asking myself (and others) if producing the same thing in different accents is a marketing technique. That's all.

They're in a variety of accents on podcast ads (not BBC podcasts, obviously). Covering all the bases I think.

It's an interesting question mcem. I shall have to listen more carefully. Do they differ from region to region as well? A person in Leeds or Birmingham or Newcastle will not have rounded vowels, whereas in Surrey the announcements might sound more 'plummy'.
