Gransnet. Should I Be On It?

(193 Posts)

I only comment infrequently on here. Looking at all the different topics and viewpoints, I have come to the conclusion that I am not suitable to be on Gransnet because;

a. I voted Leave, and still want to Leave.

b. I like having a monarchy and (most) of the Royal Family.

and worst of all !

c. I am not a dog lover.

There, I have committed the 3 deadly Gransnet sins.

?

there are a leave voters and Royalists on here, they just keep their heads down.

Keep their heads down? Your 'avin a larf! Plenty of your sort on here Chaffinch grin

Anyone who shops at Waitrose is particularly welcome.

BBbevan Wed 11-Sept-19 15:02:14

Much like you Chaffinch
Don't shop at Waitrose as there isn't one for miles
Not terribly keen on dogs, but can tolerate well trained ones.
Voted leave but now not sure.
Like most of the Royal family. Except the pretentious non workers

pinkquartz Wed 11-Sept-19 15:13:01

I don't like dogs
I don't admire the royal family
I shop in Waitrose
I don't like expensive scarves
I don't really feel like I fit here
A lot of my posts seem to be ignored
but I am a gran so I think I can be here.
chaffinch it is up to you
I like garden birds

merlotgran Wed 11-Sept-19 15:17:34

I rarely shop in Waitrose as Sainsburys and Aldi are much nearer (and cheaper)
I'm not crazy about scarves and only wear one when it's freezing cold in winter. Can't understand why anyone would want to wear a scarf in summer.
I used to like most of the royal family but only a few of them now.
I like well behaved dogs - mine, of course, are perfect. grin
I voted Leave and don't regret it.
And......shock horror, I peek at the Daily Mail first thing in the morning just to see what's occurring. blush

That alone ought to get me ex communicated. hmm

Do please stay Chaffinch...it would be very boring if we all thought alike. I voted remain but can't get excited either way now. The powers that be have made such a hash of it all. I love my dog ...but she is a dog ...certainly not a 'fur baby'. Just cannot get away with scarfs be they cheap, expensive, silk, wool or anything else. They all look awful on me ...just don't have the knack of elegant knots ext.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Sept-19 15:30:30

Merlot it's ok your secret is safe ???

Oldandverygrey Wed 11-Sept-19 15:35:06

Chaffinch - I agreed with everything your list but (b) definite no no for me.

Sara65 Wed 11-Sept-19 15:38:19

Funny isn’t it? The best we can get seems to get two out of three

Sara65 Wed 11-Sept-19 15:39:53

Sorry, I’ll say that again!
The best we can get, is two out of three!

ffinnochio Wed 11-Sept-19 15:43:17

I shop at Lidl’s, Tesco’s and on Sundays go to Waitrose for freebies ... newspaper & coffee. I wear DM’s /trainers , jeans and t-shirts on the whole
Not a great fan of dogs or cats.
Voted Remain.
I have white naturally curly hair, so looks as if I’ve had a perm when it’s layered. I’ve just stopped straightening it, so fit the granny look perfectly ?

Crack on with your individuality, chaffinch

lemongrove Wed 11-Sept-19 15:45:45

Hi Chaffinch
I voted Leave and don’t regret it
Am not a fan of the RF ( although HM does a good job.)
Only shop at Waitrose these days infrequently ( a bit of a drive to get there.)
I like dogs
I love scarves
I like chaffinches.smile

lemongrove Wed 11-Sept-19 15:46:57

This thread reminds me of the game ‘I went to market and I bought....’ ( a staple of long car journeys with our children.)

sharon103 Wed 11-Sept-19 15:48:55

I voted leave, and still want to leave.
I like the Royal family,
I do like dogs if they're someone else's. I'm a cat lover.
2 and a half deadly sins for me?
I'm a Gransnet addict. I love it.
I've not been chucked off.....yet. smile

Framilode Wed 11-Sept-19 15:51:38

I voted remain and sometimes shop at Waitrose. I love dogs. I don't like scarves as my neck is too short. I am also guilty of wearing some of the things on the old lady thread. I love my grandchildren, but at a distance, they are certainly not the centre of my life.

Who wants everyone to act or think the same, the differences are far more interesting.

Chestnut Wed 11-Sept-19 15:51:40

Chaffinch agree with your three points so please stay. It would be a dull world if we were all the same. Keep off the News & Politics boards if you are of a sensitive nature, as there is some pretty robust debate there. Good if you want to wade into the fray though!

Re scarves: I wear them for warmth in the winter and all you need to do is loop the scarf loosely round your neck once and then use a large safety pin on the inside. This should go through your clothing and then the three parts of the scarf (the two hanging bits and the loop). The pin will secure the scarf in place and you will not have any problems with it moving. Don't do this to a nice top or you may get holes in it!

sharon103 Wed 11-Sept-19 15:53:15

Aww bless, I'll look out for your posts pinkquartz smile

Bridgeit Wed 11-Sept-19 16:10:02

?hmmm does wanting to leave the EU & not liking dogs off set liking the RF?
It’s a close call? but I think you can be granted a Pardon.

Lessismore Wed 11-Sept-19 16:11:07

ffinochio, I like your style, taking the freebies from Waitrose.

Grammaretto Wed 11-Sept-19 16:14:30

Excuse me, pedant that I am, but where is there any mention of scarves or Waitrose? Have I missed something? Chaffinch?
I don't like scarves except for warmth. Always think of poor Isadora Duncan. (she who died when her long scarf got trapped in the car door)
Waitrose is too far away but I shopped there before it was considered posh!

Lessismore Wed 11-Sept-19 16:20:46

Grammeratto, no mention, my daftness.

Boosgran Wed 11-Sept-19 16:23:10

Yes, I was just about to ask the same question about scarves and Waitrose. Oh I know lessismore mentioned it , why I don’t know unless she was having a dig at someone.

So I voted leave, I like dogs, respect the Queen but not much time for any of the other members.

PernillaVanilla Wed 11-Sept-19 16:26:30

It would be a very dull place if we all thought the same. I'm remain, republican ( except for the present queen) and I love dogs and all animals. I do have quite a few scarves and shop at Waitrose.......

hillwalker70 Wed 11-Sept-19 16:28:08

I shouldn’t be here either. Dislike dogs, voted remain but couldn’t care less now, not remotely interested in food or fashion, don’t shop in Waitrose, don’t own a silk scarf, don’t watch, listen or read the news or know anything about apostrophes. I need shooting!

Sara65 Wed 11-Sept-19 16:30:23

I wouldn’t say Waitrose is posh, I like it because it sells food and little else, it could take me a week to navigate the nearest Tesco, and Sainsbury’s I don’t mind, but it’s huge. Waitrose is a far pleasanter shopping experience, and much quicker!
