Why is this not permitted? Surely in real life we have conversations about conversations?

Gonegirl Sat 31-Aug-19 22:42:51

No one report that. You'll wake her up.

Gonegirl Sat 31-Aug-19 22:43:05

Shhhhhh...

BradfordLass72 Sat 31-Aug-19 22:47:19

Speaking of that thing which goes through the eye of a needle and which apparently has to be identified by code.

I don't see why, despite elucidation, duality cannot be allowed nor why it is seen as so invidious that there has to be 'A Rule' about it.

We self-regulate, I have seen it happen. Someone will mention, 'there's another t***d about this.'
(or maybe that was GN mole?)

Rules which seek to prevent personal abuse, advertising (not always successful in either case) smile) and scams I can understand and agree with - but duplicate subject strands?
<sigh> confused

Maybe because old people often repeat themselves, we are seen to need strict regulation? grin God forbid we should say something twice.
God forbid we should say something twice

I've lost count of the times I've started to tell my son something, realised it sounded familiar then seen a smile on his face.

'I've told you this before, haven't I?'
'Yes, Mum.'

Maybe we two need A Rule?

Riverwalk Sat 31-Aug-19 22:49:15

Yes, it did come across as STFU! Cheeky cah!

FarNorth Sat 31-Aug-19 22:53:32

STFU!
Is that a new GN rule? It'll make things pretty boring around here.

FarNorth Sat 31-Aug-19 22:55:17

Duplicate threads about the same topic are okay, as long as neither one makes comments about the other one.

I hope you're all following this and taking notes if necessary.

BradfordLass72 I've just spent a minute wondering why we're not allowed to talk about camels on here! grin

BradfordLass72 Sat 31-Aug-19 23:18:09

BlueBelle Sat 31-Aug-19 23:32:43

Well if admin have gone to bed can’t we play ? At least it will stay till about 10 am tomorrow morning ???

Namsnanny Sat 31-Aug-19 23:56:44

Lara, when a thread is deleted, is the reason made clear?

Because I just spend ages looking for it and its disappeared!

Why cant a warning or deadline be issued if a thread is 'overstepping' GN rules?

This way at least people have the chance to calm down and then get back to the original topic.

SueDonim Sun 01-Sept-19 01:20:02

Bradfordlass as my grandfather used to say, I'm as old as my tongue and six months older than my teeth. grin

BradfordLass72 Sun 01-Sept-19 06:29:17

Marydoll Sun 01-Sept-19 07:27:52

Namsnanny, I have been on a thread where GN have warned that they intend to delete it and giving us time to basically get things off our chest before they did so.
I think it was sometime last year.

sodapop Sun 01-Sept-19 07:56:02

Gonegirl you are on form at the moment grin that's how I read Lara's comment as well.

Urmstongran Sun 01-Sept-19 08:53:04

You were SO witty there BradfordLass ^Maybe because old people often repeat themselves, we are seen to need strict regulation? grin God forbid we should say something twice.

Very clever!
?

Namsnanny Sun 01-Sept-19 12:47:36

Marydoll...Thanks for the reply. But were you active on the thread?
Perhaps if just reading and not posting there is no notification, just poof?!!

merlotgran Sun 01-Sept-19 13:08:26

As well as 'Discussion of the Day' on the right hand side of the page there should be a 'Deleted Thread' announcement.

That would save a lot of us from scrolling up and down looking for it.

Gonegirl Sun 01-Sept-19 13:10:17

OH. MY. GOD.

That would cause a few ding-dongs. grin

Gonegirl Sun 01-Sept-19 13:11:09

(Great idea)

Beckett Sun 01-Sept-19 13:16:43

You are all, of course, getting it wrong. As doddering old biddies/blokes we cannot be trusted to comment responsibly. We need additional rules and regulations set in place by young whippersnappers, who of course being young know the correct way to do everything.

Marydoll Sun 01-Sept-19 13:54:13

Namsnanny, I was active on the deleated thread.
We didn't get individual notifications, GNHQ warned us on the thread itself that they were about to remove it.
