Carrillion1 wishing you and your DH well ?
I have rushed into the calm and kindness here and away from the verbal aggression on other threads.
soop. Thank you for the lovely explanation. I also had a dad who “guided my decisions” - aka told me what I would be doing. however, yes I do have grown up colouring books and today have looked out the ACs art box to try doing washes (utube). You have inspired me - have a medal?and thank you.
izabella. My mum had dementia and loved her garden and knew all the plant names to the end - completely embedded (sorry for the pun) in her being.
panache lovely description of your new life. What about plants in your shower room - lots of things that like the warm atmosphere. Others will give names but I have lovely ferns in mine.
carillion love
I have had so many visitors (as opposed to guests) come to stay that I am needing down time . Off to order spring bulbs to cheer myself up.
Carrot tray bake, gluten free on the side.
Just popping in for a catch up. I do wish you'd all sit still.
I have missed the nasty threads but please dont let anyone be upset by crass people elsewhere.
We had a lovely couple of days away and it was wonderful to see my aunt. She is 89 at the end of the month and as sharp as a tack. The jazz was.....manageable, just!
TOYA.
I am having a ‘sort of day’ following lunch and the CH reminded me of this. I tjink it’s rather lovely.
l along the south coast the sea is sort of there.
The sun is sort of shining through a sort of salt-sea air.
There's a sort of "shall we" or "shan't we", a sort of "yes" or "no",
A sort of rolling up of trouser legs and a dipping of the toe.
All along the south coast the day is sort of bright.
At least it's sort of brighter than it sort of is at night,
A sort of "should we" or "could we", a sort of "yes" or "no".
It could be sort of fun. We ought to sort of have a go.
All along the south coast they're turning out the lights.
It's sort of past 11 o'clock; we've sort of seen the sights.
There's a sort of "shall we", "dare we", a sort of groping of the thighs,
A sort of gasp of sort of pleasure, a sort of burst of sort of sighs.
All along the south coast the waves beat on the shore.
They sound, well, sort of different now than they sort of did before.
There's a sort of "did we" or "didn't we", a sort of smoothing down of clothes,
A sort of "better take you home now, do you think it sort of shows?"
All along the south coast we sort of settle down.
It's just as sort of good as any other sort of town.
Only now we're sort of older, we sort of stop at home.
We paint the walls and mow the lawn and leave the world alone.
All along the south coast the sea is sort of there.
The sun is sort of shining through a sort of salt-sea air.
And all along the south coast can still be sort of seen,
A corner of sort of England that’s sort of forever green
maw and Anne, calmness and kindness seem to much under rated in some places but it is what we here seem to thrive on and long may that continue.
It’s a beautiful day here so despite having lots of “jobs” calling my name I've been more than happy to jump ship and head off out into the sunshine. We enjoyed a good walk in a favourite spot, my Fitbit tells me I’m an “overachiever” today but then I haven’t told it about the cheese scone and bit of cake we shared!
panache our home is full 16 at the last count of house plants, rather to my old boys consternation as to be honest he's not really that keen on them. I fully understand you missing having some in your new home, if you have a bathroom or kitchen window ledge an orchid might like it there. synonomous I’ve been hankering after a mini greenhouse for a while, I’d never thought of storing dahlias potted up. Would it still work if the greenhouse was just a wee one with no heating?
kitty glad you had a good couple of days away. I have a friend who sounds much like your Aunt - all there and half way back again at 96. I think it’s the way we’d all hope to grow old, sadly we don’t get to choose! Soop hope the arty farty endeavours are going well. It’s tough times for you Carillion, hoping things get easier for you both. Do pop in and give us a wave when you can.
Well the “jobs” are now yelling not calling, so I had better take heed and get stuck in. I’ll leave you with some reflections from our river walk today. As always toya
Izabella, I love it x
Izabella Thank you for sharing a super special poem. I shall make a print.
granniequeenie And thank you for sharing your peaceful and tranquil images. I can almost hear the chuckling of the water. The light and shade is fabulous.
kitty It's good to have you back with us. If only we could all remain as sharp as a tack. Your aunt is a very fortunate lady.
Feelingmyage55 My advice, for what it's worth, is to paint from the heart. Feel free to express yourself in any way that pleases you. I rarely read "how to paint" books. Enjoy!
Have I told you before that I am very partial to carrot cake? Clever you.
Nannytopsy How about posting a photo of your "Whingeing Tom". Bless him. He's obviously had his routine disturbed.
Greyduster I am still having the occasional chuckle when I think of MacS and the collie dog. It was the serious manner in which he instructed the dog to "come by" that amused me.
I am now going to log off. I hold my hands up and apologise for not having read all the messages. It's your fault. You will not put your feet up and allow me to dilly dally.
Tomorrow morning...feed feral cats and spend two and half hours ironing my pal's laundry. After which, home I shall be. Please do me a huge favour...keep out of trouble and try to relax.
TOYA

Izabella what a beautiful poem.
I am having a "sort of moan" been to the hairdresser, had 3" cut off, layers and a half fringe also gone approximately 4 shades darker........Mr.Gravy has not noticed!!!!
I have obviously reached the "invisible age" ???
TOYA
Bless him.
I bet you aren’t thinking that * GrannyG*
Maybe give it a week grannyg, I truly believe there is a time delay with many men
.
Love the poem izabella, thank you.
That’s my sort of place grannyq: Sometimes the heart decisions are the best ones
.
I don’t have any Aunts left kitty, it’s odd to be at the top of the tree as it were. Pleased your time away was enjoyable, other than the jazz
.
There can never be too many plants panache, I love them, inside or out.
You sound more chipper today charley. Sending a hug to you both carillion, come back when the time is right. Happy ironing for tomorrow soop.
TOYA, be good everyone.
carillion hope things work out for your DH.
I am in a bad place tonight. Sorry to bring it to the kitchen but I am so sad. My DGC is so low and I don’t know what to do. My heart hurts so much. For those with faith, please pray for him. xp
Evening the kitchen.
I am so far out of the loop I might meet myself coming backwards , so apologies to all I’ve missed.
I’m so sorry to hear you’re DGC is causing concern Doodle , hopefully just knowing you are on their side will help.
You were already perfect in MrGs eyes GrannieG !
I have missed any nasty threads I think although I was suitably stunned by the words coming out of one particular posters mouth . But I shall say no more !
Slimming weigh in today was an unmitigated disaster which I shall gloss over. But suffice it to say this week I really need to knuckle down !
I am looking forward to going to see Downtown Abbey on Thursday so I shall say goodnight and try and keep up tomorrow xx
Doodle they are so precious to us, our grandchildren, and we live their joys and their woes. Sometimes all we can do is to let them know that we are there for them. My heart goes out to you, and both he and you will be in my thoughts, and those, I am sure, of everyone in the kitchen.?
Doodle I echo greydusters words. I apologise as I have obviously missed something earlier, but I did not want to pass your heartfelt post without acknowledgement. ?
Oh doodle, our grandchild’s pain is our pain so of course you’re feeling low. I’m sorry you and your grandchild are hurting, I can do nothing other than hold you both in my thoughts, send a hug and hope tomorrow looks brighter.
A lettuce week ahead n&g? I’ve been far from eating sensibly this week so could well be joining you, I’m looking forward to home made soup weather, easier to eat sensibly if a bowl of soup is included.
Time for sleep, TOYA
Good morning! Doodle I wish your lad well. How old is he? We had FaceTime call yesterday from our little chap in floods of tears because the dog had got hold of Teddy. Luckily it was just an eye and Nanny dashed over to fix it. I knew we moved here for a reason! Mum wasn’t allowed to use glue so I used special sewing glue- PVA to you and me!
I wish your hurts were so easily mended.
TOYA
Doodle my heart goes out to your DGS and to you and his parents.
I have been there and have spent hours despairing over a GC so very unhappy at school if that is what your worry is.
The anguish is so awful.
I have and will continue to pray for you all.
I haven’t drawn the curtains yet so don’t know what the day is like but I wish you all the best you can have.
Doodle, thinking of you and your dear grandson.I think Ann has said exactly what I would like to say.We feel their pain as if it is our own.I remember a dr I worked with saying you are only ever as happy as your unhappiest child and the same definitely applies to our grandchildren as well.
Sending my love to you, your grandson and family and hoping and praying today will be a better day for you all.
Kitcheners, please pray or send positive vibes for my DiL this morning and give me the strength to support her. We’re off to an unscheduled appointment with her McMillan nurse. I’m sure I told you the last appointment was one of the worst days of my life, actually possibly the worst day. We were told that there was no hope. I had to sit and watch as she became more and more distressed as the McMillan gave her advice on how to prepare the children. She tasked me with telling my boy and her family. It was awful, especially telling her lovely mum. I never want to do that to another mother again. Anyway her family have forced the consultant to do more scans etc and we’re off for what I think are the results today. I'm really having trouble keeping myself together this morning. I’ve been up since 4.30 I feel sick and my stomach is doing somersaults. I want to cry. I know it’s worse for her but honestly I’m not sure how much more of this emotional rollercoaster I can take.
doodle thinking about you and your DGS. My DD had similar struggles at school but she built a wall around herself. Unfortunately it shut everyone out but the family, but it was her way of coping. It continued until she we came back to England and she went to university. A heartbreaking time for us but she is now a well-balanced happy 40 year old. I hope he can take comfort from his loving family.
morethan you are so often in my thoughts. It is a dreadful time for all of you I just hope you are all surrounded by caring, loving people. We are here for you hugs
morethan I cannot start and imagine your anguish today and that of your DiL and all the family.
It is the worst situation imaginable.
Is this insistence that more can be done doing anybody any good?
That sounds dreadful I know but sometimes acceptance is the best thing, although I hope I know where everyone is coming from.
Is it giving more grief and pressure to an already intolerable situation.
Forgive me for my thoughts, they are mine and mine alone.
morethan I am thinking of you this morning, no words can ease the situation, sending love and prayers.
doodle, wishing your DGC finds their happy place.
So many troubles in the kitchen again, virtual hugs to all of you in need.
TOYA
