Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for the sharing of...

N&G I took exception recently when I was told that Tara was overweight- that she is not- she is just under 4kg. The body may not be as honed as it used to be but she is 15 now.

Although I enjoyed the Freddie Mercury tribute band, the lead singer was overweight and did not really look like him apart from the moustache whereas Freddie was stick thin because of his HIV.

I will not be returning to that theatre- the pick up point for a mini cab was a small area which I found to be dark and frightening. It was fairly close to the main road but in an alley. Okay for the minicab driver to tell me there are many cameras around but I was on my own waiting for a minicab. For me, it is safer to go to central London than the suburbs which are unfamiliar to me.

I arrived home around 11pm and Tara was not at home. She appeared 45 minutes later when I was going to bed. At least we both slept well.

My coffee morning shortly with the other GNs and then the weekend is mine. The forecast is more rain- just lovely. Still, no excuse not to continue with the tidying etc.

We have had a mellow day . Sam got his annual well dog check up and now can no longer be referred to as * porky* as he has lost the required kilogram . Not much for a person but a 10th of the little dogs body weight. So we’re all losing weight here lol

Tomorrow , weather permitting we’re off to the Forest for a long walk ( scooter in my case) . So hope you will all be enjoying a little sunshine tomorrow !

We are home from Edinburgh having had a fabulous time.

We had the most delicious food in Tom Kitchins restaurant Kitchin, afternoon cocktails on the Fingal (a boat owned by the company that operates HMY Britannia moored on the waterfront at Leith), visited Britannia and had afternoon tea, walked miles and miles.

Have collapsed on sofa.

It was a good night away. The brand new Holiday Inn is very smart and just ten minutes drive from the hospital. The weather was a mixture of heavy showers, blustery wind and some periods of calm together with blue skies.
MacSporran's leukaemia remains manageable. The aneurysm shows no significant change. I urged him to report that he has been experiencing ongoing back pain and has, for several months, been regularly taking pain killers. It appears that, this could be significant. A cluster of infected lymph nodes in his abdomen lie in close proximity to the aneurysm. The pain could be connected...he needs another (different) scan to clarify things.

I haven't yet caight up with what's been happening in my absence. Will do my best to do so asap.

Glad you enjoyed your theatre trip cornergran, you had a very soggy trip home didn't you.

I am having a cuppa and watching some very changeable weather outside, heavy showers, sun and strong winds. We will brave the weather in about an hour and drive to Cardiff for my MRI scan at 5.20, then an appointment will be made to see the Consultant and get the results some time next week.

Hope your house sale is being finalised now Panache and that you are resting your leg following last week's procedure.
No sign yet of the builder having an opportunity to fix our leaking flat roof, rain,rain and yet more rain is forecast. Glad your plumbing problem will be sorted soon cornergran.

We thoroughly enjoyed our theatre trip yesterday. Interesting trip home as we came out into such heavy rain, couldn’t see across the road. Swam to the bus station then waited and waited and waited for a bus. The roads were rivers and most vehicles couldn’t swim. The poor bus driver had to stop to clear the condensation from the inside of the screen. Then we had a 30 minute walk in driving rain as the local bus would have been a 40 minute wait, arrived back soaked and needing a shower - which we can’t use. Still in spite of it we had a good day, superb lunch and enjoyed the theatre. Can’t let the weather get us down

Happy birthday for yesterday grannyq, I’ll take a similar approach to tidying before our visitors come next week . Love the photos, reminded me what a blue sky looks like .

I will probably be hoarse in the morning because this evening I am going to see a tribute concert of Freddie Mercury and Queen. I saw them at another theatre a few months ago and I will try to forget the fellow playing Freddie addressed all of the females in the audience as bitched which Freddie would never have done.

Tomorrow I am meeting other GNs for coffee locally-they may well be pleased because I will probably be speechless. We are now in our 5th year of meeting although we have changed coffee shops, mainly because of noisy, unruly children.

Tara will be very concerned tonight when she comes home and no mum is here.

Creeping in quietly as I’ve a feeling everyone’s dozed off by the aga!
Hoping soop and her lovely man and others with upcoming medical appointments have good outcomes. I’ve not read back carefully enough to remember what you’ve had mended grannysyb but wish you well in recovering. Hoping too that things are going smoothly with the house sale Panache, you’ll both be so relieved when it’s all done and dusted and no longer your responsibility to take care of .

Well I’m a year older since you saw me last, does it show? My normal busy volunteering day which, since my colleague was in holiday, I couldn’t really wriggle out of, but the mums/children all sang to me at and there were flowers too! A lovely meal out in the evening with the old boy so altogether a perfectly good day.

Funny old weather this week, bits of blue sky amidst an awful lot of showers. Have my sil, well ex I suppose since she is no longer married to my old boys brother, coming this weekend. 30 years post the divorce and we are still very close so I’ll be a good weekend I’m sure. As they say in Scotland “she keeps a very tidy house”... I on the other hand am less fastidious in these matters, let’s just say I’m doing a surface clean up!! Or perhaps not as I’m footering around in here!

God wishes to soop, macs, panache and all others with "stuff" to do. Saw physio today who made me go up and down a short flight of stairs. I obviously performed well enough to be allowed to go home tomorrow! Fantastic care here, all staff absolutely lovely. Feel very fortunate. TOYA

According to the weather map at lunchtime, it's a bit wet and windy up your way soop, so I'm hoping they got it wrong and that you haven't had to drive all the way to Oban in murky weather; and also hope that MacS's appointment goes well and the outlook health-wise is good. Carillion, what a disappointment for your DH. It's hard to be all keyed up for surgery and have it postponed at the last minute. I had a fight with the appointments office when I had my hip 'done' and managed to get the better of them. Panache, is it all signed and sealed today? Buying and selling homes really takes it out of you and as you're losing sleep, it must all be specially trying.

I'm sorry to hear that Carillion, my foot operation was cancelled earlier in the year as the surgeon was ill. These things happen.
However I empathise with your husband who will be feeling disappointed and a little let down, so feel free to moan. Wednesday will come around sooner than you think.

Many thanks soop, Lins and dear Panache for thinking about DH's appointment with his consultant.

A disappointing day however, we were up at 5.30am in readiness for the journey to St Brieuc, arrived on time and waited.

After an hour we were told the consultant anaesthetist (who was an important part of the decision making re. the operation) had been unable to make the appointment and that it was postponed until next Wednesday. Trying to keep DH buoyant, so still hopeful.

So sorry about the moan.

I will be spending the afternoon at my local at the low vision clinic. It would be good to be able to read a newspaper again if possible. AMD is not for the faint-hearted I have decided.
