A cheerful Sunday afternoon greeting to you lovely lot. It's always a pleasure to wander into our kitchen and read your news. I was hoping for news of a new baby...maybe later.

The cat portrait is not going well. It's muddy. I shall have to put it into the bin with the first attempt. This afternoon's challenge...try a different cat pose. If only the photographs from which I'm working were of good quality.

I actually have a man hammering and banging away fitting my new stairlift. I was told it could not be done until next Friday, having been promised last Tuesday as a definite. I discovered that the word "cancellation" concentrated a few minds and this poor guy who has been up half the night fixing emergencies has pulled the short straw.

I live in London- he lives in Wolverhampton- is he the only engineer in England?

soop would their parents like a few hours break? I would love to look after that gorgeous pair who are growing so rapidly. The proviso being I can hand them back! Tara would not be too impressed.

My new GrtGrandSon finally put in an appearance at 3:30 am a long but safe labour. A bigish boy at 9lbs I’m just happy he’s here safely no name yet but possibly Frankie.

Thanks everyone I think so too. I'm taking a bit of a backseat with this one as my Granddaughter Mum Dad, 3 siblings plus partners and her partners family all want to visit so I'll wait till they are settled at home. It's really hard but feel it's the right thing to do, unless I get a invite to the hospital then I'll be there lickety split ???

I'm being very brave and attempting to post on my new fangled thingy. My laptop died and I bought a chrome book - its very small.

I have been reading posts so keeping up to date but dont think I'm capable of replying to all the posts on here but I love the photos - especially ones of gorgeous babies and other assorted animals.

Enjoy your trip Maw, it sounds as though it is working out well. GD, are you sure that MrDuster didn't scrape the car. I hope your kind deeds were appreciated but I suspect not by the person on the receiving end.

Sorry, that's about all I can manage for now - I wioll try to keep up but might have to throw this blessed 'thingy' away and get a computer with a steam engine - much more my style.

Weather has been very sunny and it is u nbelievably warm so a small walk around our garden here was the order of the day after Lunch.......and another grand parade!!

We left the Isle of Skye in glorious sunshine yesterday morning, suppressing a wistful feeling that we had not seen that kind of weather all week! However it was lovely to drive past Fort William, through Glencoe and across Rannoch Moor in bright weather. It’s a journey we’ve done several times in the past but always in dreich, damp weather.

Now ensconced with my old boys brother and his wife till tomorrow when, after a quick visit to his other brother we will start heading southwards. We’re squeezing every ounce out of this holiday by stopping off in Seahouses for a couple of days.

Lovely photos of pampered pets and gardens to enjoy in the kitchen. Guten tag, maw your holidays sounds good, I’m so glad it’s providing to be better than you’d imagined it might be. Marydoll Italy sounds lovely too, another well deserved trip, savour every moment of it.

n&g we seem to share similar thought patterns at times! A couple of years back when travelling south we were diverted off the heavily trafficked m25. As the old boy urgently needed a loo break we stopped in a shopping centre car park. He dashed off with a pained expression but didn’t come back...”where can he be, has he had a heart attack, is he lying in a dark stairwell?” thought I., “should I go to try and find him or stay put?” After about 15 mins all became clear, thankfully he hadn’t had a heart attack but in his haste had tripped and split his eyebrow! He’d been mopped up by various sympathetic passers by but it was was obvious it would need stitches. Thankfully he had in the midst of all this found the toilet and managed to avoid any accidents of a more embarrassing nature! So I drove the rest of the way, arrived in Brighton where ds took him off to A&E to be put back together again!

Izabella hopefully you’ll get used to the change in medication and feel more settled. In the meantime pop in here whenever you fancy, we’ll all be delighted to “see” you and no one will ever mind if you miss things. Life in the kitchen goes on at such a pace, none of the rest of us in here can keep up anyway! Sorry to hear you’ve had more “plumbing” problems panache hope it all settles down again. In the meantime feel free enjoy any virtual goodies left on the side in this cosy kitchen!

I am struggling with the Smokey cat portrait. So far, three attempts binned. It happens occasionally. I have cropped one of the images and will now attempt to make sense of it. The sketch will be okay. It's the light/dark detail that doesn't exist on the photo that will cause probs when I start to paint.

Enough of my woes.

I will not have a working stairlift anytime soon. The smart seat is too short so I slithered off it as did the engineer. It is too dangerous. I will be going up and downstairs, like a crab, I think for another week- bye bye vino which was on the menu for this evening. Still, the AA will be minus a new member for a little while.

Hi everyone. Haven't been around for awhile as things are changing for me then I lost you all. Glad I've found the new kitchen now.
I finished work on Friday 30th August and had a week off to sort stuff out before I start my college course tomorrow. Had a couple of days away with Norman. Slightly later back than planned as had mishap with locked car park.
All the college students were introduced to the church and we had a nice meal afterwards.

Afternoon all.
Congratulations tanith he is a lovely baby, would love a cuddle.
It has been the most glorious sunny and warm day here on the Welsh Bristol Channel coast, our little seaside town was packorama. We went down to the pier this afternoon at 4 to welcome the RNLI group that had cycled from Poole over the last three day, 175 miles in total. There is currently a BBQ underway at the station. Our son was part of the group, we are very proud of him.

grannyqueenie, we crossed Rannoch Moor behind a snow plough in a blizzard one Easter about 15 years ago. So glad that you had better weather!
Good to hear from you as always Panache, glad it is sunny with you too.

All this talk of NT properties reminded me that the RNLI cycled along designated cycle routes that took them through the grounds of Longleat and Stourhead. This morning they went alongside Caerphilly Castle, fortunately no one fell in the moat!
