Thanks lovebeigecardigans, was trying to remember Random Harvest. I like to think I was named after Greer Garson ( Paula). Such a beautiful film. Mind you there are loads more that make me cry as well.

I'm with those who said Goodnight, Mr. Tom, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, (I often feel like Mrs Chips myself these days) and Kramer vs. Kramer. The original version of Captains Courageous also did it for me along with Mr. Holland's Opus and The Chorus.

Also That Day We Sang with the late, great Victoria Wood.

Meryl Streep's sultry tones ' I had a farm in Aarfrica!' sets me off.
Having travelled to the very place where Out of Africa was made is of even more significance as it brings back happy memories of the one I shared this visit with.

KatyK I have recorded The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, but don't know if I can face watching it. I cried buckets when reading the book!
I am a sucker for anything remotely sad or emotional. I even well-up when I see people saying their farewells at airports and railway-stations. Funnily enough, when it comes to real-life situations I am the tough one in our family. I have coped with deaths and serious illnesses without cracking-up, and didn't even shed a tear when my husband had a stroke.

Do you think that there is something rather strange about me?

Philomena-because many years earlier I went through the same thing, shouldn't have gone to the film! Afterwards went to a cafe for a cup of tea and the waitress and I were sobbing together.
The good result was it had a very cathartic effect and finally brought me closure. Thank you Judi Dench.

Gone with the Wind. Book is even worse but, I have read it several times. Am I a masochist?

GreenGran78 - not strange atall - displacement - its a coping mechanism.
I worked in a Hospice for many years and managed my emotions professionally.
Once, after participating in a particularly sad situation I was walking home past a pond. In it was a male duck frantically trying to ‘lift’ his mates head clear of the water ( she was obviously dying/dead.)
I was distraught - and, even now, the memory of those ducks upsets me.
It was, for me, ‘safe’ to let my emotions out over the ducks than over the countless sadnesses I had been involved with with people/families etc over the years where I needed to be clear headed.

Steel Magnolias and Fries Green Tomatoes. It didn't help that I was pregnant in Steel Magnolias, and I had little boy already! My sister told all the people around me I was pregnant because I was sobbing , lol.
