Can anyone recall When the Boat Comes In - I think James Bollam was in it, and I know I enjoyed it very much. Surprised there is no mention of Crackerjack, or The Magic Roundabout (Zebedee and Dougal). I loved the Black and White Minstrel show, and Val Doolican - his lovely song for a little girl "don't rush to grow up" Very pertinent to todays'

I used to enjoy watching Eldorado, believe it was filmed in Spain.

Jeanlizzie I remember The Cedar Tree, I believe it was on during the day and starred Nyree Dawn Porter.
I was amazed to see someone remembering Twizzle and Torchy the Battery Boy as no-one I know has any recollection of them and yet I can even remember the song from Torchy!
One of my favourite series was Mrs Thursday starring Kathleen Harrison.

I longed to watch Dr. Kildare but my dad had something against it. Then one evening he relented. There was a woman giving birth in a car and Dr. Kildare came to the rescue. Dad switched it off, saying it was unsuitable for a child.

I also remember Dragnet; Take Your Pick; Ready, Steady, Go and, of course, Sunday Night at the London Palladium - I could go on.

I disliked the Flowerpot men, although I don't know why, but loved Andy Pandy on Tuesday, Rag, Tag and Bobtail on Thursday and The Wooden tops on Friday. I watched Picture Book on Mondays too, but found it a little bit boring.

I remember Dixon of Dock Green too, and The Lucy Show.

'The Champions' absolutely loved it!!! Probably about 11 years old or so. Stuart Damien, William Gaunt and Alexandra Bastedea??

I have memories of a programme called the cedar tree i think it was from the 1970s i can remember watching it with my nanna i havent found anyone who recalls it at all
And a soap opera on the radio called waggoners walk that no one else remembers either

"I'll give it foive" used to be uttered by Janice Nicholson on an ITV programme called "Thank your lucky Stars". As I remember this used to be on at the same time as "Juke-box Jury" on BBC so it was difficult to pick which to watch. I think we used to watch ITV as it give us a chance to see our heart-throbs, Eden Kane, Billy Fury and Bobby Vee. Those were the Days!

Gosh, I remember it. My teddies were called Bootsie and Snudge(still have them almost 60 years on?)

Cliff Richard was on Drumbeat not Six Five Special. Also Adam Faith, Billy Fury, Vince Eager et al.

Dennis Lotis was on Six Five and I remember a fan rushing up and kissing him. Shock, horror! Don Lang and his Frantic Five sang the signature tune and Joe brown and the Bruvvers were regulars. Pete Murray and Josephine Douglas introduced it. Lots of pop legends made their starts, there. Marty Wilde even met his wife on the show.

It didn't run for very long, if I remember rightly, which with my brain, may be wrong.

How about Route 66 with Ephram Zimbalist Junior and a character called Cookie - real cool!

Those Valiant Years about WW2 was tremendous.

Lots of great children's tv shows, Gary Halliday which had a very young Terence Alexander.

There was Circus Boy with Mickey Dolenz, later of the Monkees pop group.

Andy Pandy, The Flowerpot Men, The Wooden Tops, Muffin the Mule (I even had a Muffin the Mule string puppet - wish I still had it, worth a few bob).

So many 50's children's programs, in my memory, it would bore you all silly for me to relate them. Only two channels, as well, so much easier.

I was forced to watch westerns and wrestling when I was young. I used to watch Gunsmoke , Rawhide (my favourite), Bonanza and The Virginian. Wrestling was on ITV at 4pm every Saturday afternoon.

I too had a crush on Richard chamberlain in Dr. Kildare and was so disappointed when he turned up as a baddie in Towering Inferno. We also liked Dr. Findlay’s Casebook and many others mentioned here. But there are some comedies like ‘some mothers do ave em’ that I enjoyed at the time, but couldn’t bear to watch now.

A late Thursday night treat for me (when oh met chums for a drink) was to settle with a whisky and bag of crisps to watch ‘Soap’. It was so outrageous I loved it.

I remember Circus Boy, featuring a young Micky Dolenz later a member of the Monkees.

As an adult my favourite was The Thorn Birds.

Compact was a favourite of mine, especially Sandy.

How I loved Bootsie and Snudge.

Yes I was in love with Dr Kildare as well. Anyone remember Peyton Place? Earliest memory was watching Liberace, can't remember the name of the program as I was only 5 years old.
