The weather is awful, it's not even August and the nights are drawing in. My husband has an irritating cough and the cat has disappeared.

We're off to visit my sister today. A 3 hour drive on various Mways - and it's bucketing down.

gillybob Sat 10-Aug-19 08:05:13

Can you not just touch up the lighter eyebrow to match the darker one Marydoll although I appreciate that could go on for ever and ever......a little bit here, then a little bit there....oh no too much, I’ll just darken the other side.......

I hope the biscuit smell of false tan has worn off by now (I’m sure it must have ) but I bet the bed sheets are a bit of a mess grin

Anyway, I bet you look a million $’s . Have a billliant time !

Marydoll Sat 10-Aug-19 07:24:55

I'm now worrying about the forecast thunderstorms during the drive down to the weddings, on country roads.

Oh..... and the one eyebrow, tinted darker than the other. ?
Apart from that I'm fine! grin

cornergran Fri 09-Aug-19 21:41:44

Worry not about the tan marydoll, enjoy the wedding and please tell us all about it.

Sorry if that’s too positive for this thread so back on topic, why oh why do family phone (hands feee) from their cars, break off and say ‘I’ll call you back’. Then don’t. Im trying hard not to picture a fleet of ambulances on the motorway

MissAdventure Fri 09-Aug-19 20:57:29

I was like that with online banking.
I think I managed to actually get into my account once, and spent the rest of the time trying to remember my security question, whether my security picture was of monkeys or kittens..

Registering a new credit card this afternoon I somehow manage to mess up the endless codes they kept sending me for online services/app etc., etc.,

Locked myself out for 24 hrs. angry

Good start eh? grin

Marydoll Fri 09-Aug-19 20:35:32

This afternoon, my friend took one look at my tanning efforts and tried hard not to laugh.
She has advised me to slap some more on! grin
Oh dear! I'm going to have to cover myself up with a black bin bag at this wedding tomorrow!

When fake tans first came out Marydoll my sister was dying to try them but Mum said they were too expensive and far too frivolous.

So my sister stole a whole box of PG Tips from the pantry, filled the bath with hot water, dumped the tea bags in and sat in it for an hour.

Of course she totally forgot her face.

It took years for the stains on the bath to wear off, despite a furious Mum and a lot of Jif.

These kind of scams must be doing the rounds EllanVannin angry . It worries me that someone might be panicked or feel threatened enough to give their card details out to them. I wanted my dad to inform the police but he wouldn’t . There are some evil people around .

Had a flood in loft nine weeks ago , all three bedrooms have bare brick walls after having plaster stripped off, all furniture in storage apart from a bunk bed which is really uncomfortable . Went to bed really tired last week as I closed the curtains the whole lot came away from the wall ,bought an inflatable bed which was fine for four nights then started to deflate at eleven thirty at night so had to make up bed on lounge floor with settee cushions. Let's hope replacement stays up!!

EllanVannin Fri 09-Aug-19 10:13:55

I've done a trace on the phone number and apparently it's an unscrupulous debt company involved in fraud in Redditch.
It's a clever scam so beware----01527419014.

Lessismore Fri 09-Aug-19 09:54:41

I was supposed to be doing something, it is cancelled. I have a hideous family visit on the horizon, Mr. Less is still jolly and somebody is getting their car valeted outside....hideous jarring noise.

EllanVannin Fri 09-Aug-19 09:51:09

It was Scottish Power btw.

EllanVannin Fri 09-Aug-19 09:49:44

Gillybob, I've just been pondering that call as all the years I've been with this company, they've never rang as I've always had a letter reminding me.
I didn't give any information---just a few swear words and asked if this was something new. Whoever it was got an ear-bashing anyway.
What I will do is check the phone number to see which area it came from.

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-19 09:34:07

I would be very wary of those sorts of calls EllanVannin I posted a couple of weeks ago about someone trying to get my dad to pay a bill (he didn’t even know existed) over the phone. They were most insistent and even threatened to send bailiffs if he didn’t pay there and then. Thank goodness he didn’t fall for it.

EllanVannin Fri 09-Aug-19 09:30:21

Right, I've got to have a moan now. 20 minutes ago I got a phone-call from my power company---" am I going to pay my bill and how am I going to pay it ?" What ? I've only had the bill for a week, I'll be going to the bank next week to pay it so what was/is their problem ?

This really got my back up and I was about to toast my crumpets so I'll hang on until my angst has gone. Cheeky beggars, nobody has ever rang me up reminding me to get my bill paid so the chap on the other end got short shrift.

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-19 09:27:23

Have you tried using a mascara with a thin plastic (the swear word of the moment) wand Marydoll ? I have quite fine eyelashes and struggle with those wide bristly things.

Marydoll Fri 09-Aug-19 09:15:37

Meant to say, "risk tinting them"!!

Marydoll Fri 09-Aug-19 09:15:00

grin. Auntieflo, the problem is that my eyelashes are so fair, that you can't see them.
Going on my past history with allergies, I wouldn't risk it and I'm rubbish at putting on mascara. sad

Auntieflo Fri 09-Aug-19 08:43:51

But Marydoll, giraffes have the most amazing eyelashes!!!

Marydoll Fri 09-Aug-19 08:25:48

I forgot to mention that my arms are covered in bruises, due to my new meds. A new breed, the blue and tan spotted giraffe.
You are so correct, Gilly, the smell is overpowering!!! I may pass on applying tonight. grin

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-19 08:14:02

Oh Marydoll I can smell that lovely biscuity aroma of false tan from here grin

You could try using one of those net scrubby things in the shower. That should get rid of the streaks. I hope the weather forecast for your wedding is better than what we have in store for this weekend !

Marydoll Fri 09-Aug-19 08:02:06

As I'm going to a wedding tomorrow and looking like a milk bottle due to my colouring, I decided to use some fake tan on my arms.
This was probably not the best of ideas, as I have very painful hands and reduced dexterity.
It's been a very busy week, due to child caring duties and hospital visits, so I have been slapping it on at bedtime.

Eventually having 5 minutes of peace last night, I decided to inspect my golden tan. I have a giraffe pattern on my arms!!! Many shades of tan and a good few patches of white thrown in. sad
I'm wondering if I should risk tinting my eyebrows! Red hair is a curse, it brings all sorts of problems!! grin

BradfordLass72 Fri 09-Aug-19 07:43:57

RobertReny I used to do that as well. Never damaged mine.

Turned on my computer first thing, as usual and left it booting to go make my first coffee.

Came back and the whole thing seemed frozen. Couldn't even do a soft reboot.
Had to do a Devil's Reboot instead but the same thing happened.

An hour later, after several reboots I am hopping crossly like Rumplestiltskin.

Can't get online, can't access Word, can't do any wretched thing because the computer will NOT respond.

Then I finally had the wit to look at the task bar .....and I'd somehow managed to lock it.
Sheesh, 30+ years computer experience totally forgotten smile

PageTurner Fri 09-Aug-19 05:16:29

I drank two lovely Margaritas tonite with dinner.
I hope I will be able to sleep tonite.
