Charleygirl, mini cabs may be cheaper, but those London cabbies are wonderful, we`ve had some great chinwags with them.

PS, I`m suffering from an injury. I took the large tub of buttery spread, known generally as margarine, from the fridge,whoever had it before me didn`t put the top on properly, the heavy bit fell down, I grabbed it, but the sharp edge cut into my wrist. After nearly 3 hours it`s finally stopped bleeding, but it ain`t àlf sore!

callgirl let that be lesson to you. Stick to proper food like butter in the future.

The state of eye care here in Wales is disgusting we have just learnt.It seems that from now on only those that can be helped will recieve appointments, and those of us with dry MD can only access one if our situation deteriorates to a certain degree.
Talk about taking away that one last rung of hope.

Water in the form of rain is still in short supply here on the western coast,another sunshine day although a fair few white bubbly clouds.

I think a rest is next on the cards,my early nights are getting me quite a name here, but quite frankly this is the only way I still manage to cope after some fashion.

Panache please do not forget that dry AMD can turn to wet overnight and must be treated immediately.

Re your house- the next person who offers a low cheeky offer I would say in reply, thankfully I do not have to listen to your nonsense because I am in the fortunate position to be able to wait. I am aware that is not true but the person offering the cheeky offer is not to know that.

It really would be good to get it done and dusted and enjoy life in the flat.

I called the consultants office to see if there was any news of an appointment with him, having been told by the optician I have dry AMD. I was told it is not classed as urgent because there is no cure and all they will do is check my eyes on an annual basis. This is in Scotland.

It is similar in London but because my eyes have worsened I now have 6 monthly appointments.

gransal as I said to Panache please check your dry AMD does not change to wet.

Callgirl1 I sympathise, I was taking the rubbish bag out of the kitchen bin yesterday and there was a cocktail stick sticking out of the bottom - it pierced my thumb which bled for ages, that too didn't arf hurt.

An interesting night where sleep eluded me for hours and when it did eventually come (at rising time) it was accompanied by a dreadful sci-fi like nightmare. Most unwelcome. However, the day spans before me although outdoor activities are off the agenda unless I can find mask, snorkel and wet suit. CH is making focaccio and no matter ho hard I try my I am unable to come up with the right spelling for that and the spell checker can't either. No matter, it will be delicious.

Congratulations Mamissimo and a warm welcome to the little one ?
I was a wreck when DDs1 and 2 were in labour. DD2 took three days of full on contractions but not dilating properly and with DD 1 , I was looking after first one and subsequently both boys when she had DGS2 and DGD so was very aware of the time. DD3, bless her, kept schtum until it was all over having lied to her sister who rang her that morning and got no reply, SIL said she was at yoga!!!
I can breathe again, having taken DGD home on Wednesday and came back last night. She is very sweet but needs a lot of attention and can be very contrary when she chooses (eg over what she will or will not eat) but it went well. I hope school somehow improves her short fuse - I suspect the nanny was perhaps too indulgent and gave in to avoid confrontation. Just a guess as the boys are not like that. Unfortunately I had to put her to bed when we got home as DD had to take a boy to football (mistake - you learn by them!) and DGD had a full scale screaming meltdown because I had left her toothpaste here and the boys’ toothpaste was THE WRONG ONE! Not a happy scene but fortunately she calmed down eventually and we were friends again by the time she was in bed. I think it was anti- climax and frankly DD should have somehow made an alternative arrangement so that she could devote that time to DGD but it is easy to be wise after the event.
Going to collect Hattie in a few minutes who was very tolerant of the little human, but really prefers having me to herself!

Ann it is early in the day for you not to be feeling these wobbles and upsets, and grief takes us all differently. Please be kind to yourself?.

We had a trying day yesterday. We bought some curtains for our bedroom. Curtains should always come accompanied by a person who knows how to put them up, not a couple of halfwits who shout at each other a lot! I have put up curtains before, with mixed results, but DH has always left me alone to get on with it. I could cope with step ladders then; less so now, so he stepped in to ‘lend a hand’. ‘Nuff said!?‍♀️
I was very amused on Wednesday when I took GS to the cinema. We went on the tram, and called in at M&S when we got off, to use their facilities. At the top of the escalator, I looked round for him and he had done a double take by a display of, er, school shorts and was getting very excited because they had black ones in his size! (You expect them to get excited about football shirts and the like, but school shorts??). “Wow! I have to tell Mum - she can’t find any black ones and now I can wear shorts instead of long trousers!” Long trousers are his nemesis. He does not like them even in the winter! I suspect that Mum could not “find black ones” on purpose, but he told her anyway so now she expects to be plagued before the new school term and I am in the doghouse! We did make it to the toilets eventually, and then to the cinema, but the subject was live from them on! Love the boy?!

Greyd last year I changed the curtains in every room and I knew there was no way I could hang them myself, stay sane and have two legs intact. The shop which made the curtains did a curtain hanging service and for me, it was well worth the money and all hung beautifully. It took him around 30 minutes- it would have taken me 3 weeks.

I have bought a cooling pad for Tara online so no doubt that will signal the start of winter. It is cold and miserable here if dry.

We took GS to the park this morning, within 5 minutes it started raining so went food shopping and then visited a friend of my late Mum as it was her birthday.

We have 3 GSs here tomorrow night, I think it will be “organised chaos” ?

Just back from a lovely lunch with soop and macsporran who called in to a cafe local to me on their way back from their Glasgow visit with SoopSon no.3. We took a couple of selfies with soop's new iPhone. I hope she can upload one to the Kitchen allright.

galen, we've had heating coming on for and hour each morning and evening all summer except for a few days in the very hottest weather (low twenties C° is hot here). Having lived here for thirteen years now, we now know this is normal for Argyll. I remember being on holiday with my in-laws up in the Highlands in midsummer and a fire being needed in the evenings most years. Scotland the Cool!

It didn't really rain much this morning on S Welsh coast but this afternoon is wet and miserable.

I made a Leek, Brie and Tomato quiche with cheese pastry for supper, please help yourselves to a slice. It took me a while to locate my rolling pin following months of not cooking after my foot operation.

Hope the weather improves for those on holiday and GN's looking after grandchildren.

Welcome to the world, new baby family Mamissimo

I have just this minute booted up the puter. A long day with a lovely lunch with our Baggs. Yes, I shall have a photo of us to share with you tomorrow. The phone is dead. Or, should I say that the battery is.

No surprise for me to discover umpteen visits to catch up with. Tomorrow afternoon will find me doing just that.

A photo taken with son number three. He was just lovely to spend time with. I can still feel the warmth of his bear hugs.

Off to empty the overnight bag and slip into my jimjams. We are both in need of a relaxing evening.
