Anno, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your sister's ordeal is over now but you will miss having a special sister. Condolences to all the family. flowers

MND is an awful diagnosis as has been brought home by looking at photos of a 38 year friend of DD2 and 3. He was diagnosed in April and is already in a wheelchair.

Thank you for the photos of the gorgeous girls, Mamissimo.

TOYA and, hopefully, I'll be back later.

Anno I’m so sorry for your loss. When my best friend died from the same awful condition I was so relieved that his suffering was over but the sadness never left.

An apology to everyone - being Mim’s full time handmaiden for the last week has addled my brain. DD escaped home from hospital yesterday evening and we have returned home to collect ourselves! May I present to you Mim and Esme....?

Dear anno, yes, I remember you telling us that you were flying to New Zealand to spend time with your sister. It was for you both, a treasured reunion, in spite of her tragic illness. I am so sorry to hear that she has died but relieved that her suffering is at an end. Warmest, gentlest hugs from us lot. flowers

To all the kindly grandmothers who have been patience personified in your dealings with and caring for grandchildren - my respect. Give yourselves a well deserved treat.

granniequeenie That cake is a work of art. It deserves a special tasting. wink

Being with our Baggs was a treat. We had a hearty blether. She took a photo with the new-fangled phone. I have been trying my hardest to upload it and share with the kitchen folk. The one of son was sent as an attachment from his phone. However, I am hoping that our neighbour who gave me the new fangled thingy, will pop in sometime soon to show me what I need to do. Buggerations aplenty! Technology and moi do not see eye to eye. hmm

Anno I’m so sorry to hear your sad news. You were so kind to me when my DH was diagnosed with this most hateful disease in April. It must have been so hard for you to be so far away from your sister at this difficult time. My deepest sympathy to you and your family, and TOYA to our kitchen friends who are grieving, looking after poorly loved ones or are unwell. ?

grannyqueenie Fri 16-Aug-19 21:42:46

Yes I do remember anno, sad news for you indeed. I’m glad you were able to see her when you were able to enjoy each others company and reminisce together. Thinking of you in your sadness x

annodomini Fri 16-Aug-19 21:38:39

Some may remember that in January I flew to NZ to visit my sister who had the terrible diagnosis of Motor Neuron Disease. It was a wonderful month and I was glad to be able to be with her while she was still able to speak and we could reminisce about our childhood. After a long, slow decline, yesterday she died with her son and daughter beside her. We are all deeply sad to have lost so dear a sister/cousin/aunt/friend, but relieved for her that her suffering has ended so peacefully. My grief began when I first knew her diagnosis and will always be a part of me. Love and Peace to all who grieve. TOYA xxx

This rain is beyond a joke Callgirl and not what you expect in August. DH ( from Cornwall) says this is what all the summers of his youth were like!
Well, we are ensconced at DS’s house with their dog, DD’s dog and two DGC. This is going to be a hard weekend! The dogs keep wi ding each other up and the visiting dog ( female) keeps trying to mount the children when they sit on the floor! Aaagh!

callgirl1 Fri 16-Aug-19 20:56:40

I hope that you and your old friend have a good meet up Ann, you`re probably both excited about it.
GrannyQ, that cake looks lovely, yummy as well, you`re granddaughter did well, better than I could have done, a baker I aint!
Soop, that`s a lovely photo of you and your handsome son. You both have the same eyes, glad you enjoyed your get together.
Has Baby Mamissimo got a name yet?
Lynne`s carer has just gone. This one comes on a push bike, and she was absolutely drenched, poor girl! I felt so sorry for her having to put her soaking coat back on to go out in the rain again.

Just recovered from a spell of full on granny duty. Mostly doing it on my own as it was a last minute arrangement by which time the old boy had commitments he couldn’t get out of. I now have fresh respect for lone grandparents, it’s blooming hard work on your own. Just read your account of granny duty Maw, you’re a superstar!!
Anyway we all survived, had some fun along the way and managed to contain the younger gd anxieties at missing her mum. Not sure where this anxiety she’s experiencing is coming from, her mum thinks it’s connected to the upcoming year 6 residential that she is already worrying about. Her big sister was determined to bake yesterday, as I’d done with her sister earlier in the week. So bake she did, I left her washing up while I sat down for a bit and wondered what was taking her so long. Bless her she’d dried it all, tidied the kitchen and put it all away! She drew a design of how she wanted the cake to look and then patiently stood and carried our her plan. Help yourself to a slice, but not if you’re diabetic...low in sugar it ain’t!

Great news on the baby front, glad to hear all is well mamissimo That’s such a lovely picture of you with your son soop., these family times are very special indeed. Ann I’m glad you’ve got some satisfaction at last and feel you can now draw a line under it all. Not everyone would be able to see it that way. greyduster, we can change curtains here, even but new ones too... so long as there is no change to the curtain poles arrangements... that would be several steps too far!

I know I’ll have missed lots of folk but I must away. dd4 due any minute and the dinner needs a bit of sorting out. As always Toya and wishing you a good weekend x

Doodle Fri 16-Aug-19 19:37:56

Well it has rained without stopping here in Stockport
The cat and I are totally fed up.
I have had things to deal with that I really didn't want to but heyho that is life.

I made an official complaint to the head office of the care home my H was in about the manager and senior staff .j
No complaints about the home itself or the care staff
After being told they never received my e-mail, I made a phone call and received a call back from the the Manager for care for the group.
I expressed all my concerns and was promised a letter when she had raised my issues with the staff.
I received an e-mail from her today " in answer" to my own e-mail of the 18th of July expressing my concern
This is the e-mail they never received!!!

Apart from one point she upheld all my complaints about the way I was informed or not informed about matters concerning my H.

Also the serious lack of communication from them.
" Lessons will be learned" and management have been told that the way I was treated in my H's last days was totally wrong and must be changed in future.
She said things done cannot be undone and she apologised on behalf of the group.

I shall not take it further as I had intended but will now put it behind me.

I have also had to deal with the last things to be sorted with my H's will and hav written to the solicitor with final instructions, all things bringing it all to the fore again.

On a better topic, I am going to meet a childhood and longstanding friend tomorrowWe haven't seen each other for 60 years. After university she went to live abroad where she married and had a family and has been back for some years but our attempts to reconnect came to nothing until recently when her son had seen a postt from me on a local history site and got in touch to see if " I was me" and did I want to meet up.
Tomorrow sees that happen.

I hope the soops have enjoyed their visit and that all of you are coping ok.

TOYA
