My guilty pleasures are playing Facebook games and watching Love Island and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!.... there, I've confessed....

My not very guilty pleasures are:

Chocolate
Gin and tonic (oh, that delicious first sip!)
Watching Real Housewives on TV
Sitting on my brand new sun lounger all afternoon with a really trashy book.

When I was widowed several years ago, a very clever friend advised me to take the words “should” and “ought” out of my vocabulary. I did!

like Sara65 it's buying books........there is literally no room left anywhere.
I have now invested in a Kindle in the hope of reducing future purchases though nothing feels as good as a physical book.
(I mean as far as reading goes....lots of other things feel good)

Pinkquartz

I cannot do kindle, they have to be real, and I have trouble parting with them, the house is full of books

Champagne, our local baker's sausage rolls, buying an extensive and expensive wardrobe and saying to my husband, 'This was very expensive. It cost £20.' Oh yeah.

You're never too old to experience pleasures, you shouldn't feel guilty, just enjoy!

Me too Sara65 nothing better than the heft of a proper book. I volunteer in a small library so pass on all my books and get to read the ones other people have donated.

Diane227 Thu 18-Jul-19 14:41:21

I buy Closer magazine every week. I dont know why really...............

FarNorth Thu 18-Jul-19 15:03:25

You're right, Lessismore. And now cushions! grin

pinkquartz Thu 18-Jul-19 15:16:26

Sara65 the breaking point for me is that I can no longer find a particular book when I want to. There too many every surface and most of the floors too now.

I haven't got my new kindle up and running yet.
I prefer the real thing but if you saw the way there is really no space anywhere.......

I do sometimes pass on books, mostly fiction but like you I don't want to part with them. I love them.
Everyone who knows me understands but when my family visited recently they said my new living room huge rug was lovely, but shame you can hardly see it for the piles of books.
My lottery winning dream would be to have my own special room/s for my books. grin

Watching American cop shows NCIS, CSINY, SVU et cetera

I think I could probably do the perfect murder and avoid detection. Anyone need a hit Woman?

Taking myself out for the day without telling anyone - beach for a swim if it’s warm and sunny or shops if it’s not. I have a very busy family home life (think Waltons) and actually nobody really queries it when I disappear for a few hours - they think I am busy doing all their errands I reckon. My goodness I come home refreshed. My guilty pleasure!

Blinko Thu 18-Jul-19 16:55:00

Watching Lewis and Midsommer Murders even when I've seen them before. I can rarely remember who dunnit till I've watched the same episode a couple of times at least. Which is a blessing, really grin

Books from charity shops, me too. You only admit to 300 Diggingdoris , I've lost count but probably at least 1500, on every flat surface in the house including up the stairs!
Other guilty pleasures
M&S Maple & Pecan peanut butter
Lidl Fudge
First Dates
Gogglebox
Buying fabric for patchwork that I will never have time to make
Staying in PJs all day
The Internet, every day for hours
This list could go on for ever!

My guilty pleasure is researching and believing in lots of conspiracy theories!

Granless Thu 18-Jul-19 17:57:45

Chocolate. I have to eat a whole block at one go and that’s the big block. Disgusting.

TerriT Thu 18-Jul-19 18:00:32

I have so much curtain and furnishing fabric I could open a shop! Lots of Laura Ashley particularly. Always been addicted to fabric, must be a faulty gene as no other family member has the slightest interest!

annodomini Thu 18-Jul-19 18:06:06

Chocolate as long as it isn't white which isn't really chocolate at all.
Not that I feel so very guilty really!

Maggiemaybe Thu 18-Jul-19 18:44:46

You’re right. anno. Perhaps my white chocolate habit is something I should feel guilty about. I know the dark stuff is the teal McCoy, and even good for you, but give me a Milky Bar any day. blush

Sara65 Thu 18-Jul-19 18:49:05

Maggiemaybe

I could live on white chocolate

Maggiemaybe Thu 18-Jul-19 18:53:53

smile Though strangely enough, Sara65, I once had a day eating nothing but chocolate (one of those 60 things to do before I'm 60 jobs). I was really looking forward to it, but by teatime I was so fed up and nauseous I could have mugged DH for his fish and chips.

RosieLeah Thu 18-Jul-19 19:01:57

How enlightening this has been! I shall no longer feel guilty about buying books (I've got loads too waiting to be read), doing my cross-stitch when I should be dusting (the light is so much better at this time of year), the cappuccino I have every afternoon, the boxes of chocolates I buy from a certain charity (they need the money).

RosieLeah Thu 18-Jul-19 19:02:54

forgot to mention playing games on Facebook....I'm addicted to Fairyland!

Sara65 Thu 18-Jul-19 19:14:39

Pinkquartz and Rosieleah

I feel so much better about my book habit! Bookcases and bookshelves in every room, I always feel comfortable if I go in Someone’s house and there are lots of books, love to have a browse, and see if we’ve got the same taste

sharon103 Thu 18-Jul-19 19:17:00

Chocolate
double chocolate Magnum lollies. I have one, or even two every night after dinner. They're addictive.
Morrisons make chocolate muffins that have cream in the middle and a sauce that tastes like Black Forest.
Black Forest trifle.
Reading all the posts on Gransnet when I should be getting on with my jobs.
Entering competitions on internet sites. I waste hours most evenings and not win a bean. I have had some really good prizes in the past, the days when you had to find the answers yourself. These days there are so many entries. Comping is a hobby for me and enjoy it though.
