Anyone get the mop and bucket out

Tell your granddaughter it’s ‘Pocket money’ and like a lot of kids, she has to do her chores first!

I use kneepads. It actually doesn't take much time to use a wood floor spray and a bucket of rinse water and do the floor, baseboards and all. I can whip thru my floor in 10 minutes. In my opinion, it takes longer to use those darned swiffers, which uses wasteful throw-away pads and seem to just move the dirt around the floor!

What can be wrong with your granddaughter helping her gran out & who will know if you give her a few bob?

Yes, I find a bit of good hard cleaning ( not tooo often!) can be very satisfying.

No idea where the expression came from Pantglas1 but it is a very satisfying description isn't it.

Hate mopping, now use a steam cleaner. But mainly it's the faff of moving everything first, the kitchen stools, the bin, cats' bed and food bowls, door mat, and then sweeping the floor first. I dont do it very often..... In emergency will use a floor wipe.

I never jump out of bed for anything ( especially at 7 a.m.)
But well done for being so energetic ( and clean.)
There is something cathartic about washing the floor I suppose ( note to self.....do it more often.)

The mention of red cardinal reminds me of leaving my toddler in the playpen beside the kitchen drawer that had all the polishes in. When I returned after making the beds the whole side of drawers, all the wall at her level and all her hands face and clothes were covered in red cardinal. I don't know how she got the lid off the tin - this was in the 1960's. Took me hours to get off and I have kept well away from the stuff ever since.
I still 'enjoy' getting the mop and bucket out for hard floors.

I do mop my floors and was interested to read of the spinning mops. I looked then up on Amazon but couldn't see any that had the full 5*. Some seemed to have many snags. Any recommendations?

I’ve had mine for 5yrs no problems at all I believe OH ordered it from QVC.

I wouldn't give the spinning mop 5* either coolgran65 It still left the floor very wet. I don't really like mops at all having seen a few very unhygienic looking ones.
