Recording Boris and partner

From what I've seen the neighbour is not "left-leaning", apart from having voted Remain, as most Londoners did, he has no other political connexion.

He acted as anyone would do hearing shouting through the walls, including a woman shouting "get off me" and "get out of my flat". I think most decent neighbours would have phoned the police in the circumstances.

I’d have recorded such an argument as evidence in case it went to court - I wouldn’t have hesitated.

He’s proved himself to be the scumbag with very poor judgment I suspected he was - certainly not someone who should be leading the U.K. through such a difficult time.

I don’t think anyone has criticise phoning the police, but phoning a national newspaper?

Would BJ, knowing what we know of him and his plans/aim of becoming PM, throw that all away by committing an act which would see him given a lengthy jail sentence?

I do heartily agree greycat, and SirChenjin. And telling the Guardian exposed his unsuitability for any public office, let alone PM . So the neighbour did the right thing in all ways and alerted all to this utter disgrace of a man.

It isn't a question of defending him, more a question of being uncomfortable at people immediately jumping to the conclusion that it is "domestic abuse" and he is the perpetrator - no-one knows what really happened

We were very surprised to find, many years ago, that our male neighbour was the victim of domestic violence.

It is only because the Conservatives are open about their processes that we know who is to be the next PM. As they are the current government their choice for THEIR leader automatically becomes the PM of the UK. Take it or leave it....99.9% of those spouting on here have no say whatsoever and are wasting their time arguing one way or the other. The Tories could (and should) choose their leader in private and that would be that.

I don't want Boris as PM, but I have no say in the matter.

However, I do think that so many on here are guilty of believing that only men can be the perpetrators of domestic violence.

Sincerely hope you're wrong and he won't be the PM. The two of them made their argument very public by shouting so that people could hear them even at street level. They've brought this on themselves. No sympathy.

Whitewave....Wrong. Until the next Tory leader loses a no confidence vote he is the Prime Minister. The Queen will invite him to form a government. He will do so because that is the way it works. Here's a thought. Carrie Symonds is a victim of John Warbuoys the taxi cab rapist, she got in to his cab, drank vodka and only remembers feeling woosey. She does not know whether or not she was raped. This is a horrendous thing for a woman to have to handle. Could it be that she has nightmares or flashbacks. Boris might have been up late rehearsing his speech and she may have gone to bed or dozed off on the sofa, he may have gone to bed or gone to wake her from the sofa and disturbed her mid nightmare, hence the screaming 'get off me', 'get out of my flat', then picking up his lap top to throw at him, him responding 'get off my f'ing laptop' as it contains his speech amendments. He calms her as she realises it was another horrid nightmare. Police arrive and they concoct the red wine story to protect her privacy or the red wine was indeed spilled in the fracas and they use it to protect her from further scrutiny over the Warbuoys terror.

I have no more idea than anyone else what happened so my point is that there are endless possibilities and therefore we cannot and should not judge.

We don't know why they were arguing, but flare ups happen and are resolved, as most couples know. Sounded like theirs was resolved before the police arrived.

I wouldn't be surprised to see her flat up for sale before long. Most people want privacy. If you are in the public eye you do not need neighbours (with recording equipment) sharing the same staircase, or indeed giving you the finger because they don't like your or your politics.

From what I have read about the neighbours (with the Guardian on speed dial, and the woman a privileged and wealthy American heiress, with an active middle finger) I wouldn't want to be anywhere in their vicinity.

My son lives round the corner from them, Day6! He doesn’t think Boris will be there long now.

Annie and others You do realise that if this couple had not phoned the Guardian, NONE of us, the Electorate of this Country in general nor the select few who are about to choose our next PM, would have known anything about this 'incident' as it would have been quietly buried by the Police.

I believe the police said no action was being taken as it was a 'domestic', as they call rowing couples disturbing neighbours.

Johnson ought to have enough tucked away to buy a place with no near neighbours. How would any of us feel if an argument with our partner /spouse was headline news?

I don't think his private life ought to be anyone's business but his own. Most people have skeletons in their closet, as do many of our politicians. I expect most of us have messy incidents in our lives we'd rather forget. This is one of Johnson's and those who oppose him won't let it go, especially now, when he has so much to gain in terms of his career.

I'm shocked that people think this was undue nosiness and all normal stuff, I've never had the police called on me over an argument.

And I would not be making excuses for this type of behaviour in any man or politician, whether they belong to a political party I favour or not.
