Age of attaining grannyhood

I am 62 and my first grandchild is 8 months old.

Not unusual to become a late gran when many put career before parenting.

46 when first was born and 65 when 6th was born

I was 55 when my first granddaughter was born and 64 when her sister was born. These are from DD2. There are 3 other granddaughters from DD1 born in between. I love them all dearly.

I was 42, and 64 when I became a great granny. I enjoyed being a young gran as had plenty of energy and stamina to do lots of activities with them as well as working, and enjoyed it all. I married young, my daughter married young and one of my GGC also married young. I have 3 AC, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and look forward to more additions within the family.

I was 50. It was the perfect age as recently remarried I was a bit broody.

59! DD and boyfriend hadn't been dating long so it was a accident but worked out well and they are now married and have another one. I was going through cancer treatment at the time so it really cheered me up.

I was 38, and I'm now a 71 year old great-granny to 2 girls, age 3 and 1.
I had my daughter at 16, she had my grandson at 22 and he was 29 when his partner had the first of their 2 daughters.
I know I started very young, but it does concern me how late women are now leaving it before having children. It's one thing having a first baby in your 40s, quite another having a couple of stroppy teenagers in your 60s, even more so if you are trying to juggle caring for elderly parents as well.
I have all the enjoyment of my great-grand-daughters with none of the responsibility. Their grandmother (my 55 year old daughter) and the other grandparents do the hard work helping out whilst I look on!

I was 48. Our 2nd and his girlfriend were just 22. My other 2 grandchildren were born 2 years ago and 6 months ago, so 55 and 57 with them

I had just turned 50. I lost my son a week after my 49th birthday to cancer and my GD arrived the week after I turned 50. So 49 was the most emotional year I could ever have. I would of given up without that rainbow coming into my life. My 3rd little rainbow is due in September and I'm now 58. Every day I feel so very blessed to have them.

I was 36 when 1st grandchild born - now have 5 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren (and one due in december) at age 64!

39. DGD1 is nearly 12, DGS is 8 and DGD2 is 3, quite the spread.

I was 49 when my first grandson was born and 55 when two more grandsons were born then 61 when my granddaughter was born. I often look after them for holiday and weekend sleepovers when their mums and dads want a rest or time to theirselves, I love having them they keep me young and are a lot of fun.

I was 58. Now I'm 66 and we have four grandchildren. I wish I was younger and had more energy for them.

I was 58.Now have Grandchildren of 14,11,10 and 5. Two near and two 300miles away.Don’t get to see them very often,unfortunately.

I was 53 and have loved every minute of being Nanny to our two DGD's, now aged 8 and 5. Sadly they moved away nearly two years ago but we still see a lot of them, we have got used to the two and a half hour drive. They came on their own for a week at Easter and have their own bedroom here. We go to them to babysit for several days at a time when my DD and SIL go away. In between there is FaceTime and the eldest now emails and Whatsapp's me.

I was 67 when the first arrived then three more followed quickly so 70 when the last was born.

Three months after my 50th Birthday, what a precious gift he was . He is now 6 and his sisters 3 years old and 3 months old. He also has a cousin she is 4 in July. The best gifts you could ever wish for.

I was only 17 when i had my first dd my first dgc was born when i was 36 i have 3 now i am 50 my 2nd dd is having her first aged 27 and i feel like im too old to start all the babysitting again when she goes back to work although i am excited for her

My GC are spread out, two grown up and four still children.
I still do a lot of childcare and wish my youngest daughter realised that I haven’t got the strength and energy now that I had for the first GC.

I was 49 when first DGS arrived and 64 when last DGS arrived.

We’d given up ever having grandchildren so downsized to a two bedroom house - then over the next five years we gained four! I was 61 when our first was born.
