GrannyGravy and Nannytopsy During a rather long spell of insominia (ages ago) I used Nytol Herbal to get me through. It's worth a try.
Ann is correct in saying that the non-herbal Nytol is more effecient but they left me feeling "spaced-out".

Bordersgirl I should be calorie counting after the excesses of the Heeland vacation...however...melting moments are just too good to leave uneaten. as is Carillion's ^chocolat
Bordersgirl The poor wee love with chickenpox may feel well enough to sample one or two of your melting moments. Best get such illnesses over and done with when one is young and capable of bouncing back without too much ado.

Grey, your cheerful posts do make me . I can imagine that you are in a lot of pain with that hip, having, at one time, been there myself. Don't think I ever had to do a one-legged breast-stroke but when I had my shoulder op, I devised a quite effective one-armed front crawl. At the moment I'm too lazy and should really get back in the water.
Had a good morning, out to coffee (well, hot chocolate for me) with a friend and had a really good gossip. Some ears might have been burning!
I think it may have stopped raining on this side of the Pennines. I could venture out to bring in the bin. What an exciting life I do lead.

Hello the kitchen! It seems we are all having the same deluginous (no I know it’s not a word but it feels like it might be one today!). The new water butt purchased on Sunday has come into its own, after much trial and tribulation with downpipes, etc! Brilliant stuff, Duck tape!?. Just about the only thing you can’t stick it on is ducks.

We have been swimming this morning (keeping the waterlogged theme going). It was extremely boring and my dodgy hip didn’t like it, so I was doing a strange mixture of styles, including the one legged doggie paddle. I suspect that one legged doggies are much better at it than me! I am told that we are “going to make a regular thing of it, as we have got out of the habit and it is good for us!” Who knew? What is not good for us is when we leave the sports centre and he slopes off to the cake shop in the village muttering about going to have a quick look around the hardware shop! What he comes back with is definitely not hardware, unless there is a department for sausage rolls, custard slices and fruit pies .

I’m sorry to hear there has been some verbal mauling going on - it’s the sort of thing that could drive a lot of people off Gransnet who have much to offer, which is a huge shame. But this kitchen is a Shangri La - a haven of peace (if not the eternal youth of the original! That would be quite good though wouldn’t it?).

Second school run this afternoon. Yesterday GS asked me for the fourteen hundredth time if I am looking forward to going to Cornwall with them at Christmas (he seems to think he has to keep reminding me of it in case I go off the idea!). I told him I would look forward to spending Christmas anywhere with him; even a shed in the Outer Hebrides would do! He thought about that and said “If that’s anywhere near Cornwall, we could call on the way if you’d like to go there!” ?‍♀️I think we need to get the atlas out!

I will look in later. Hope someone is getting some sunshine somewhere!

Big (((hugs))) to Maw and Ann and just remember Mt 4:5. I shudder to think just how I would be managing to carry on with life without Himself as that crash could well have taken him from me.
As it is, Himself has now been discharged from Physiotherapy as he is walking really well with his prosthetic leg and even without a stick indoors. He goes back to the prosthetic hospital in the 'big smoke' in the middle of next month by which time his challenge from the prossthetist there is to be without it completely! He will do it too! He is very determined. Since I can't drive the journey there and back in one day we have been trying to find a hotel room for the night and I am amazed at how the prices have gone up now that it is the summer season; very nearly three times the price earlier in the year! Never mind, has to be done so we just get on with it.
I am starting to feel so much better with being able to sleep better now that I am relaxing more and no longer on tenterhooks. I am not so tired with doing everything and running around after Himself now that he is able to wear his leg more and we can work together. We seem to be approaching some kind of normality - a different normal but much less uncertainty. Himself looks so very different now that the osteomyelitis has been (so drastically) removed; he has good colour and the twinkle in his eyes is back! Ps 136 with bells and whistles and everything else you can think of!

Melting moments - yum! That takes me back. The minister's wife gave my mum the recipe and I took over the baking...and eating.
I still haven't found the thread where someone bullied my good friends, Ann and Maw, but bullies are best ignored, in my experience, unless you can hit them over the head with a big paintbox as I did when I was about 10, but that's another story.

Slapped wrist time here.
I meant to say I would love a couple of Melting Moments with the cuppa I am just enjoying.
My friend and I used to make them 70 years ago when her mum would let us loose in their tiny kitchen.
They lived "behind the shop" her mum owned, a drapery and I loved it but it was very cramped.
I am reminiscing a lot now and they were very happy times.

Good morning all, sadly another damp one.
Maw I find the herbal Nytol pretty useless for me but the other one is quite good and I use it occasionally for 2/3 nights and then find a pattern is established which lasts for a few weeks.
Does leave you feeling " heavy" sometimes in the morning though.
I hope things are moving for The Panache's they really deserve some relief from their problems.

Dear maw I am stunned at your post about paw. I cannot honestly believe that anyone could be so unthinking and uncaring to say such a thing. I think I speak for all us kitcheners when I say we all got very fond of paw and you can talk to us about him anytime you like. Take no notice of such insensitivity. Really ?
